Pratu Xai or Anusawali in Vientiane, Laos.
Xai, a Sanskrit word meaning win, is a monument located in the northeastern part of Lanchang Road. In the heart of Vientiane, Laos, it was originally a monument meaning memory. It was built between 1957 and 1968 as a memorial to the Lao soldiers who died during World War II. and is the restoration of independence from France. In the year 1975, there was a communist revolution in Laos. The government was seized completely and the king abdicated. Change the old form of government to a communist form. Therefore, The original name was Anusavali. And the name was changed to Pratu Xai to honor the victory of the revolutionary party. and still use this name until now
The material used for construction is cement from America. It was used to build the airport in Vientiane, but the government also brought it to build Patuxai. and stopped building in 1968 due to the chaotic situation in the country. As a result, the construction was not completed.
- Vientiane is next to Nong Khai Province of Thailand. Cross the border, pay 20 baht at the immigration checkpoint, then take a ride into Vientiane city. And that time we had already reserved accommodation in Vientiane for 1 day to stay and after that we would go to Vang Vieng. When we arrive, check in to the room. take the stuff in the room, we walked from the accommodation to Patusai about 10 minute in the evening. The sun was about to set in the evening when the lithg of the sun come to Patuxai. It was a very beautiful sight. We spent some time walking around there. They had fun taking photos together. Because the culture and language of this place are similar to Thailand. But each one has its own charm.
- Decoration of the gate Decorated with Lan Chang art. Bring legendary animals according to Buddhist beliefs to decorate the surrounding area. There will be a fountain with music. We can walk through the door. And below there are various souvenir shops. There are many small shops.
- Actually, there is a place to walk to the top of Patuxai to get a view of Vientiane. The total height is seven floors. Each floor has shops to choose from. But on that day that we went in the evening, we couldn't make it in time because the opening hours for viewing are from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Admission is 2000 LAK, Laos currency.
