Madeira - Portugal

in #hive-163772last year

Hello everyone, I hope you are well 😃 Today I had another hot day here in Madeira. Today I came to visit the typical houses of Santana, here in Madeira.

Of course, our visit to Madeira would not be complete if we didn't visit these famous typical houses. The little houses are all the same in a triangle.

Roofs are made of thatch

These houses are characteristic of this island. I enjoyed visiting it but it's not something I want to go back to, because there are few houses and there's always a lot of people and it's not easy to take pictures. But I advise everyone to visit at least once in their lives.

Visiting the site is completely free and has an underground park where you can visit the typical houses. Some of these houses serve as local shops where you can buy magnets or other things related to the island of Madeira, for example.

The view is breathtaking. The space is very well maintained and has very good support facilities.

The benches I found very interesting, I think the bench in the pictures was super cute I rented a house in the center of Funchal and stayed for about an hour in these typical houses.

Why are these houses so well known?
These houses date back to the discovery of the island of Madeira and represent part of the island. These small, colorful houses in the shape of triangles were made of straw, coming from the cereal plantation that served to cover them, and wood because it was a cheap material and there was a lot of it in this region. These materials were important for maintaining the temperature of the houses. The high slope of the roofs meant that the rain drained away and it did not rain inside the houses.

On weekends there is also a fruit market close by. They also speak very highly of this market

I hope you liked it, see you soon friends 😃
