The Louwman Museum: Car Lover's Paradise

in #hive-163772last month

Hey guys,
Trust you’re having a good day. On todays episode of touring the Netherlands with me, I’m taking you along on an exciting trip during my time there. Today, we are journeying all the way from Amersfoort to the Hague. You’re probably wondering why we’re traveling this far.

Well, we want to learn more about cars from the Louwman Museum. The journey from where I was lodged to the Louwman Museum was a bit far meaning , I had to be up early. I was up as early as 4:30am so I could get to the meeting point by 5:30am but first, a selfie for the fans before we step out.

I arrived at the meeting point which was the Jaarbeurs shortly, went ahead to register and we were out on our way to board our buses. The sun was rising slowing and the view from over the canals was a great one to experience. I met my fellow neighbor from Nigeria and other people from across the globe on our way to the Museum through various discussions.

We finally arrived at the museum at around 9:00am. The first thing that caught my eye was the way the trees around were pruned to look like cars. It added to the whole vibe of the place. We made our way to the main entrance of the Museum and it was really beautiful. We were literally welcomed by this mini car (microlino)which would be perfect for someone like me. I almost carried it away, lol.

The first view you have while entering the inside of the museum is this beautiful art piece of a car. I’m not good with cars but I’m going to try my best to take you along. We were led into a big hallway filled with different cars. I was really shocked to see these ancient and outstanding cars there but guess what? There was more to see!

So, this huge hallway was more like a sitting area if I should call it that. We were served some snacks and beverages to get our system hyped up a bit. After our little-but-not-so-little snack, we were directed to a room which was more like a lecture room for some history class. If I remember correctly, the Louwman Museum is a museum for cars , motorcycles and many more means of transportation which were used in the olden times.

These cars were passed down from generation to generation in the Louwman family and they gradually grew to become like a collection of cars. But aside this collection of cars, the Louwman family has been known to be in the automobile business for quite a number of years now, importing cars from Toyota to Suzuki and many more brands. Must be such a nice family business.

We had a whole lecture on the history of the cars in the museum and the evolution of cars over the years and even a peek into the future. For someone who didn’t know much about cars, I was more than impressed. Now, let’s take a step back from cars and talk about art!

Every corner of the museum was filled with art, especially the hallway and the stairs that led to the lecture rooms. And it wasn’t just any random art, it was art that spoke to your soul. Even though you’d think these are just pictures or paintings of cars, you wouldn’t be able to stop staring. So, I’m just going to make the art speak for itself.

This is where I would end for today. Maybe we can call this the art side of the museum and in my next post, we will dive into what the museum holds on the other end. Let’s just say, it would be a chat about cars and more! I hope you enjoyed this, thanks for your time:)
