Norway | Oslo Cathedral - A wonderful 17th century church

in #hive-16377210 months ago

Hello, friends! We are continuing our journey to Oslo, so I'd like to tell you about a place of peace, quiet and incredible beauty that will inspire everyone. It is located in the heart of Oslo - in the very center of the city, so this is another plus for those who are staying in Oslo for a short time. And we are talking about the Oslo Cathedral, which was built in 1694-1697. It was in 1697 that the cathedral was consecrated. It is also known that the cathedral is used by the Royal Family for various festive and official events.

The entrance to the cathedral is incredibly large and gorgeous. I like to look at the ancient architecture and see how much things have changed over time. I also like the fact that there are not many modern buildings nearby and the concept of an ancient city has been maintained.

In a small corridor, there is a book of records, and it was also very interesting to look through it and read the inscriptions of people from different parts of the world. That's how we found out that a Turkish couple had been here a few days before our visit. And, of course, we also left a short message.

When you enter the hall, the first thing you see is a fabulous painted ceiling. It looks very impressive and you want to examine this beauty for hours, looking for new elements. The realization that all this was done by the hands of an artist makes you admire it even more.

Behind, above the entrance, there is an no less stunning balcony. This is where the huge and incredibly beautiful organ was placed back in 1997. After all, this cathedral is for people, music, conversations, silence, prayers, and lighting a candle. Once I was lucky enough to hear the melody of the organ in the Philharmonic in Ukraine, and I believe that everyone should hear it...

There are benches in the middle of the hall. Representatives of the Catholic Church believe that sitting in the church is not only necessary, but also obligatory. Thus, sitting in comfort, a person is much more likely to concentrate and devote all his/her thoughts to God. And they establish the connection with the God through their thoughts.

There was a candle a little further away. I also decided to light a candle and put it there. I felt easy and clean. These are my inner feelings in church. By the way, one candle costs 10 Norwegian kroner (1 dollar). You can also pay digitally by scanning a QR code. There is also a donation box.

That's how our visit to one of the oldest cathedrals in Oslo concluded. I really hope you enjoyed it. So please leave your impressions of the post in the comments. I will definitely read everything. I am very fascinated by historical places with a rich history and I believe that the Oslo Cathedral is one of those places. And we say goodbye to you until the next post. I wish you all peace and goodness! Bye, friends!
