I really like seeing fishermen and fishing boats. I like to see when they arrive loaded with fish and when they treat their nets after fishing. I like to hear that even after hours at sea, doing a job that is so hard and that we know is not always enough to feed all the mouths, the good mood and laughter remain. I like seeing when their wives are waiting for them and the joy in their eyes when they dock safely.
We went along the Passeio Ribeirinho, starting next to the Ferry Boat - Santa Rita de Cássia. At this time it was docked but ensures the daily crossing between Caminha (Portugal) and A Guarda (Spain).

Gosto muito de ver pescadores e barcos de pesca. Gosto de ver quando chegam carregados de peixe e quando tratam as suas redes após a pescaria. Gosto de ouvir que mesmo após horas no mar, a desempenhar um trabalho que é tão duro e que sabemos que nem sempre chega para alimentar todas as bocas, a boa disposição e ao riso permanecem. Gosto de ver quando as suas mulheres os esperam e a alegria no olhar quando atracam em segurança.
Fomos pelo Passeio Ribeirinho, começando junto ao Ferry Boat - Santa Rita de Cássia. Nesta hora estava atracado mas assegura a travessia diária entre Caminha (Portugal) e A Guarda (Espanha).

We took advantage of this walk outside the city center to talk about what we were seeing and get a little vitamin D :-) Further ahead we found a small pier where there were several fishing boats. We still tried to convince the little one to come in for some photos but in vain. The fear of being caught by the boat owner was stronger than the desire to be photographed. This pier was opened in 2018 and created better conditions for docking boats and for repairs.

Aproveitamos esta caminhada fora do centro da cidade para conversar sobre o que estavamos a ver e apanhar um bocadinho de vitamina D :-) Mais à frente encontramos um pequeno cais onde estavam vários de pesca. Ainda tentamos convencer a pequena a entrar para umas fotos mas em vão. O receio de ser apanhada pelo dono do barco foi mais forte que a vontade de ser fotografada. Este cais foi inaugurado em 2018 e criou melhores condições para atracar os barcos e para as suas reparações.

In the background we saw fishermen working their nets and we took the opportunity to record these moments. From there we continue to see the rest of the city that I'll show you tomorrow :-)
