To get to the Botanical Garden we must travel to the central area of Lisbon and then locate the parish of Belem, it is not difficult to find it because it is very close to the "Mosteiro dos Jerónimos" monument, it has more than 7 hectares of land dedicated to the exhibition of various tropical plants from many parts of the world! His specialty is tropical plants, over the years he has had a great tourist and scientific contribution in Portugal, considering it as a national heritage!🚩⛲🧭
In 2015 the Botanical Garden became part of the University of Lisbon, this with the aim of being directed by the Museum of Natural History of Lisbon, this great step helped the garden grow in scientific topics and providing the country with a means of awareness and learning about autochthonous plants and from other parts of the world! In these spaces, children learn from a young age to value nature and create awareness about the ecological impact of botany.🧠🌍
History🙇♂️🧭/Historia🚩🌍
In the year 1906 it was proposed to create a "colonial garden" in the Lisbon area, the Institute of Agronomy did everything possible to create a space for learning and rest in the greater area of Lisbon! Although it is not the oldest garden in Portugal, it is among the first for learning purposes about botany! It was only in 1912 that the garden was transferred to the Belem area and it acquired its own space for its plants!👨🏫👨🎓🌍

The garden was created with a strong influence on the education of the youngest in Lisbon, so much so that that height was described as: "fundamental base of teaching", having living beings it was much more didactic and effective to teach, we can explain many things and let people imagine what we are talking about and another thing is to see firsthand what the living being is like!👨🏫👨🎓
An hour is not enough for learning🧭
When you enter the Garden you must pay 5 euros per person! I don't see it as very expensive compared to other tourist sites to visit in Lisbon! I would say that on average you can spend an hour walking through the park and learning. Although you can spend the whole day there with your family learning about plants or enjoying a different day!🧠🌍

When the garden was created it was already considered a colonial learning and information gathering site, since Portugal had several colonies in Africa it was common to bring tropical plant species to learn about their ecology inside the botanical garden! However, science in Portugal demanded more from the park and a laboratory and small museum were created to deepen the physiology of plants!🧭⛲👨🎓
