Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is considered one of the most expensive places in Metro Manila, Philippines, but the place offers city-dwellers various activities that promote a sustainable lifestyle and modern convenience while staying here in Manila, I will be sharing my personal experience with the place.

Last June 19, 2023, I visited the Bonifacio Global City for an important meet-up with a veteran member of the HivePh community @romeskie and we met at Seattle's Best Coffee Shop at 9th Avenue. Together with the DBuzz Founder, Chris Rice (@chrisrice), and fellow Hive user, Ron David (@rondavid), we had a successful informal meetup with Romeskie (@romeskie).
A few minutes after the meetup with Romeskie, I took time to roam around the place together with Ron David to take some photos and enjoy the scenery of the place while Chris Rice took some time to relax in one of the benches at the parks of the BGC.
The Bonifacio Global City or BGC for short is located at the heart of Taguig City in Metro Manila, it is considered the second most important business district and major tourism, shopping, dining, and entertainment destination but with a catch, because it is a really expensive place.
History of Bonifacio Global City:
The thoughtfully master-planned 240-hectare mixed-use estate was once part of a multi-hectare portion of Taguig and the United States government acquired it in 1902 and operated as a military base. In the year 1949, Fort McKinley was turned over to the Philippine Government. It was renamed Fort Bonifacio, the permanent headquarters of the Philippine Army since 1957 but in the 1990's Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) managed 240 hectares of the land for productive civilian use.
The financial business district in Taguig City named Bonifacio Global City first experienced commercial growth following the sale of the military base at Fort Bonifacio, named after the great Filipino hero, Andres Bonifacio. The district was sold by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to private companies after it was previously used as the main camp of the Philippine Army.
BGC is under the administration of the Taguig City Local Government Unit (LGU), but the local government units of Makati and Pateros also claim jurisdiction over the bustling global city.
Last February 7, 1995, the Bonifacio Land Corporation (BLC) started planning a major urban development dubbed Bonifacio Global City and successfully partnered with BCDA in the development of the district.
The Ayala Corporation and Evergreen Holdings, Inc., purchased a controlling stake in BLC from Metro Pacific in 2003 and the two companies now control Fort Bonifacio Development, which oversees BGC master planning activities.
Bonifacio Global City Transport Services:
BGC Global City offers a bus service providing various routes such as the East Route, West Route, Central Route, and Weekend Route. The Bus Services Route is operated by the Bonifacio Transport Corporation.
Aside from the BGC Bus service, there is also a bike service through the use of the Moovr mobile app located in various parts of BGC.
Moovr Parking is located in various areas such as 5th, 8th, Sundial Park, De Jesus Oval, 26th St. Ext., 3rd Ave., Burgos Circle, 1st Ave, 32nd Ave., Burgos Circle, 32nd Ave., Rixal Ave., 5th Ave., 23rd Ave., Rizal Drive, 5th Ave., Rizal Drive, BGC High St. Central Parking, One Central, Fort Strip, 7th Ave., Pocket Park, Gallery Parkade, 7th, 9th, 11th Ave., Track 30th Park, Land D, and Justicia Drive.
Experience at Bonifacio Global City High Street:
From Seattle's Best Coffee, we walk around Bonifacio High Street on the way to Bonifacio High Street Central Square Mall passing through Lane P and 7th Avenue of the BGC High Street area.
Together with Romeskie, Chris Rice, and Ron David, we ate some snacks at the Italian Restaurant Va Bene Pasta Deli on the 3rd Floor of the Central Square Mall located on the BGC High Street.
Right after the meetup with Romeskie at BGC, we decided to roam around the place but we were only able to take photos of some scenery like the buildings and the landscape of the Bonifacio High Street.
Although the place was just a small area of the Bonifacio Global City, I was really satisfied with what I experienced being able to enjoy the beauty of the place, appreciating the beauty of nature and the workmanship of the people who made the place such an interesting one to visit.

What is Bonifacio High Street:
Inside the Bonifacio High Street is a one-kilometer-long boulevard line with exceptional shopping and dining option operated by Ayala Malls. It is considered the first-ever shopping center in the Philippines that introduce the main street concept.
Bonifacio High Street is located just near Serendra, Market! Market!, and SM Aura Premier. Some of the most prominent landmarks of Bonifacio High Street are the High Street Central and Central Square Mall.
Together with Ron David we took some photos and walked around the Bonifacio High Street, the malls, and parks within the area. Although the Bonifacio High Street is just a small part of the bigger Bonifacio Global City, our experience was indeed fulfilling.
Impressive Landscapes of BGC High Street:
As you can see in the photos below, the landscapes of Bonifacio High Street are indeed impressive, the trees grow elegantly and the grasses are all well-maintained supported by the availability of benches for people to take some rest and enjoy the sights of nature within a city.
Landmark Buildings of Bonifacio High Street:
Some of the most prominent landmarks and buildings that are visible within the BGC High Streets are the American Express Building, Shangri-La Hotel, and Philippine Stock Exchange Building to name a few.
Photos are mine taken through Chris Rice's iPhone unless otherwise stated.
