Experiencing BGC High Street Philippines Lifestyle & Modern Convenience

in #hive-163772last year

Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is considered one of the most expensive places in Metro Manila, Philippines, but the place offers city-dwellers various activities that promote a sustainable lifestyle and modern convenience while staying here in Manila, I will be sharing my personal experience with the place.

Last June 19, 2023, I visited the Bonifacio Global City for an important meet-up with a veteran member of the HivePh community @romeskie and we met at Seattle's Best Coffee Shop at 9th Avenue. Together with the DBuzz Founder, Chris Rice (@chrisrice), and fellow Hive user, Ron David (@rondavid), we had a successful informal meetup with Romeskie (@romeskie).

A few minutes after the meetup with Romeskie, I took time to roam around the place together with Ron David to take some photos and enjoy the scenery of the place while Chris Rice took some time to relax in one of the benches at the parks of the BGC.

The Bonifacio Global City or BGC for short is located at the heart of Taguig City in Metro Manila, it is considered the second most important business district and major tourism, shopping, dining, and entertainment destination but with a catch, because it is a really expensive place.

History of Bonifacio Global City:

The thoughtfully master-planned 240-hectare mixed-use estate was once part of a multi-hectare portion of Taguig and the United States government acquired it in 1902 and operated as a military base. In the year 1949, Fort McKinley was turned over to the Philippine Government. It was renamed Fort Bonifacio, the permanent headquarters of the Philippine Army since 1957 but in the 1990's Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) managed 240 hectares of the land for productive civilian use.

The financial business district in Taguig City named Bonifacio Global City first experienced commercial growth following the sale of the military base at Fort Bonifacio, named after the great Filipino hero, Andres Bonifacio. The district was sold by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to private companies after it was previously used as the main camp of the Philippine Army.

BGC is under the administration of the Taguig City Local Government Unit (LGU), but the local government units of Makati and Pateros also claim jurisdiction over the bustling global city.

Last February 7, 1995, the Bonifacio Land Corporation (BLC) started planning a major urban development dubbed Bonifacio Global City and successfully partnered with BCDA in the development of the district.

The Ayala Corporation and Evergreen Holdings, Inc., purchased a controlling stake in BLC from Metro Pacific in 2003 and the two companies now control Fort Bonifacio Development, which oversees BGC master planning activities.

Bonifacio Global City Transport Services:

BGC Global City offers a bus service providing various routes such as the East Route, West Route, Central Route, and Weekend Route. The Bus Services Route is operated by the Bonifacio Transport Corporation.

Aside from the BGC Bus service, there is also a bike service through the use of the Moovr mobile app located in various parts of BGC.

Moovr Parking is located in various areas such as 5th, 8th, Sundial Park, De Jesus Oval, 26th St. Ext., 3rd Ave., Burgos Circle, 1st Ave, 32nd Ave., Burgos Circle, 32nd Ave., Rixal Ave., 5th Ave., 23rd Ave., Rizal Drive, 5th Ave., Rizal Drive, BGC High St. Central Parking, One Central, Fort Strip, 7th Ave., Pocket Park, Gallery Parkade, 7th, 9th, 11th Ave., Track 30th Park, Land D, and Justicia Drive.

Experience at Bonifacio Global City High Street:

From Seattle's Best Coffee, we walk around Bonifacio High Street on the way to Bonifacio High Street Central Square Mall passing through Lane P and 7th Avenue of the BGC High Street area.

Together with Romeskie, Chris Rice, and Ron David, we ate some snacks at the Italian Restaurant Va Bene Pasta Deli on the 3rd Floor of the Central Square Mall located on the BGC High Street.

Right after the meetup with Romeskie at BGC, we decided to roam around the place but we were only able to take photos of some scenery like the buildings and the landscape of the Bonifacio High Street.

Although the place was just a small area of the Bonifacio Global City, I was really satisfied with what I experienced being able to enjoy the beauty of the place, appreciating the beauty of nature and the workmanship of the people who made the place such an interesting one to visit.

What is Bonifacio High Street:

Inside the Bonifacio High Street is a one-kilometer-long boulevard line with exceptional shopping and dining option operated by Ayala Malls. It is considered the first-ever shopping center in the Philippines that introduce the main street concept.

Bonifacio High Street is located just near Serendra, Market! Market!, and SM Aura Premier. Some of the most prominent landmarks of Bonifacio High Street are the High Street Central and Central Square Mall.

Together with Ron David we took some photos and walked around the Bonifacio High Street, the malls, and parks within the area. Although the Bonifacio High Street is just a small part of the bigger Bonifacio Global City, our experience was indeed fulfilling.

Impressive Landscapes of BGC High Street:

As you can see in the photos below, the landscapes of Bonifacio High Street are indeed impressive, the trees grow elegantly and the grasses are all well-maintained supported by the availability of benches for people to take some rest and enjoy the sights of nature within a city.

Hi, everyone! My name is Ed Umbao, also known as @philnews.xyz here on Hive. I am the former co-founder of PhilNews.Ph, one of the leading news sites in the Philippines, and the current founder and owner of PhilNews.XYZ.

I have been blogging since 2010 when I was working as an OFW in Saudi Arabia. I became a member of Hive in 2019 and posted only two articles before returning to short-form blogging through D.Buzz in February 2023

  • Click on the map where your post should be (zoom in if needed)
  • Copy and paste the generated code in your post (Hive only)
  • Congrats, your post is now on the map!

Thank you so much, this is another achievement for me and I will continue sharing my travel experience about the Philippines.

Hi Ed, it's great to see you being active on Hive now, and even meeting up with @romeskie, hope it was fruitful.

As you can appreciate, running a news website is quite different from running a blog. The former's focus being dissemination of information, whilst the latter is all about creating content, which is especially important on Hive as you can be rewarded for your content. That's why Hive places a lot of emphasize on creating original content. A lot of your post's content is lifted from the internet and you did not cite the source. That is considered plagiarism.

Please note for future reference because such actions could lead to your content being downvoted, and in the worse case blacklist.

Thank you for the reminders @livinguktaiwan, I will be careful with providing personal stories and citing sources of information. I am thankful to @romeskie for giving me insights on how to navigate here on Hive.

I am so glad that you're helping me as a newcomer here on Hive and looking forward to learning more from you and the community of Hive users.

Feel free to attend onboarding webinars we conduct through discord. Announcements are usually released both on the blockchain amd in the discord server. You may also ask questions through the discord, mababait naman ang mga tao dun and very helpful din. We'd be glad to guide you further through navigating the site.

Salamat po @romeskie, I will try to join po.

Hi @livinguktaiwan,

My emphasis on Hive since 2020 has been on DApp building, not writing, so I have some catching up to do.

I appreciate your warm welcome toward Ed since he will be providing immense value for the blockchain through https://philnews.xyz and I am doing my best to help him.

In addition to him personally providing value to Hive, he will be training and helping other people onboard and use the blockchain properly.

The point I see in your comment is for him to provide sources for all of the information he used to research his article.

Are there any other pointers? Or is this basically the only thing you saw missing in his post? Thank you @livinguktaiwan, and for what it's worth, he will be making an introduction through the username @edumbao too.

With appreciation,
~ @chrisrice

Hi Chris, I run @newbies-guide which is a depository of useful posts written by people on Hive and that would be a good place to start. It needs updating but so far it has quite a lot of useful posts.

There are also some unwritten rules, which are really social norms as you have in any community and they evolve over time, so what's acceptable some years ago may not be anymore. If you recall in the early days, some things like circle jerking and bid bots were quite wild west, but since Hive, the community has up our act and I believe this is a much better place now. The best thing to do is really find a good community and you'll get a feel of how things are done. You and Ed have met @romeskie already, and Team Philippines does a sterling job of guiding new users. I would highly recommend connecting with the team.

Also, I note you mention Ed will be training and helping onboarders, not sure if that is a bit premature as you may end up the blind leading the blind if he is still a bit green on Hive. Things like sourcing and not plagiarising are good standard practice that one is taught at school so I wouldn't expect that to happen on Hive.

If you need any further information, feel free to let me know or touch base with Team Phlippines anytime

All the best.

Thank you @livinguktaiwan.

Filipinos intimidated to learn, or even write at all could be taken under the wing of @philnews.xyz to build their confidence, know they are not alone and try more than they already have.

But Ed himself, could use mentors.. he is ready to learn.

Thank you @livinguktaiwan for the help and the guidance you provided.

Can you kindly send me the links for #TeamPhilippines, tag me in the constructive criticism you offer @philnews.xyz and keep critiquing his work for excellence?

Writing and blogging is not my fortay but Ed and I both have a strong interest in values and service.

Thank you.

Hello Chris and Ed! Almost everything a newbie needs to know about Hive will be found in the Helpful Guides channel in the Hive PH Discord Server. @adamada and the rest of the staff has done an exemplary job in making everything easy to find. Should there be anything not stated in the helpful links, there are topic specific servers where you'll find all that you need to know. The Hive PH server is also full of people very much willing to answer any inquiry. Feel free to open a conversation with anyone in the Hive PH discord server, I'm sure anyone online there will address your questions.

Have a great day!

Hi @chrisrice and @philnews.xyz

I think you are both in the HivePH discord server already so I'm not sure what you want us to do here..
Anyways, we can continue this conversation in the discord server to have a clear understanding.

Ah okay, I thought I was only in the #HivePH Discord, and not yet in the #TeamPhilippines Discord.

Best wishes.

Yes @wittyzell it is clear already @livinguktaiwan and @romeskie helped me a lot. Thanks to @adamada also.

Hello Living,

Ed and Chris are already on the discord server. There's a channel where newbies could get more info about Hive which may have been overlooked.

Just to clarify for future reference, TeamPH is a different Filipino based community group on Hive focused on splinterlands, HivePH is more on the blogging side. The labels might be a source of confusion later on.

TeamPH.... HivePH

Woops I never realised the difference, will bear in mind for future reference 😉
