I’m back with another adventure! Join me as I take you on a peaceful walk along the stunning Lixa Quay, where nature beauty meets the calm of the Douro River.
The other day, I found myself needing a break from the usual hustle and bustle, so I decided to take a walk along Lixa Quay, a stunning spot by the Douro River that I have always loved. It was one of those perfect summer afternoons clear skies, the sun shining bright 🌞 and temperatures hovering around 32ºC. Hot 😎 yes!!!

No outro dia, dei por mim a precisar de uma pausa da habitual agitação, pelo que decidi dar um passeio pelo Cais da Lixa, um local deslumbrante junto ao rio Douro que sempre adorei. Foi uma daquelas tardes perfeitas de verão, céu limpo, sol a brilhar e temperaturas a rondar os 32ºC. Quente, sim!!!
Stepping onto the quay, I was immediately hit by the warmth. The sun was high and it felt like everything around me was soaking up the heat especially the stones underfoot.

Ao pisar o cais, fui imediatamente atingido pelo calor. O sol estava alto e parecia que tudo à minha volta estava a absorver o calor especialmente as pedras debaixo dos pés.
As I walked, I started noticing the little details around me. The quay was lined with trees and shrubs, their leaves creating pockets of shade here and there. Every step brought a new scent the earthy smell of the ground, the freshness of the river. It was peaceful, almost meditative 😌

Enquanto caminhava, comecei a reparar nos pequenos detalhes ao meu redor. O cais era ladeado por árvores e arbustos, cujas folhas criavam bolsas de sombra aqui e ali. Cada passo trazia um cheiro novo, o cheiro a terra, a frescura do rio. Foi tranquilo, quase meditativo!
At one point, I stopped at a spot that gave a wide view of the river and the hills in the distance. The scenery was beautiful and I took a moment to appreciate the simple beauty of the area. After resting for a while, I continued my walk feeling more relaxed.

A certa altura, parei num local que dava uma ampla visão do rio e dos montes ao longe. A paisagem era lindíssima e tirei um momento para apreciar a beleza simples da região. Depois de descansar um pouco, continuei a minha caminhada sentindo-me mais relaxado.
I continued along the path, which curved gently alongside the river. The quay was quiet, with only a few other people around, mostly locals who seemed to be enjoying the afternoon as much as I was.

Continuei pelo caminho, que fazia uma curva suave ao longo do rio. O cais estava silencioso, com apenas algumas outras pessoas por perto, a maioria habitantes da zona que pareciam estar a desfrutar da tarde tanto quanto eu.
The sun, still high in the sky, cast long, soft shadows, giving everything a warm, golden glow. The water of the Douro seemed to slow down, as if in sync with the lazy afternoon pace. I could see the gentle ripples on the surface of the river, shimmering under the sunlight, creating a mesmerising effect that held my attention for a while.

O sol, ainda alto no céu, projetava sombras longas e suaves, conferindo a tudo um brilho quente e dourado. As águas do Douro pareciam abrandar, como que em sincronia com o ritmo preguiçoso da tarde. Consegui ver as suaves ondulações na superfície do rio, a brilhar sob a luz do sol, criando um efeito hipnotizante que prendeu a minha atenção durante algum tempo.
The afternoon continued to unfold at a leisurely pace. The sun was still strong, but the occasional breezes made the warmth bearable, even pleasant. The sunlight brought out the best in the landscape, highlighting the natural beauty of the river and the surrounding hills.

A tarde continuou a desenrolar-se num ritmo calmo. O sol continuava forte, mas as brisas ocasionais tornavam o calor suportável, até mesmo agradável. A luz do sol realçou o que a paisagem tinha de melhor, realçando a beleza natural do rio e das colinas circundantes.
As the afternoon wore on, the sun began to lower slightly in the sky, and the intense heat started to ease. The light softened, casting a warm glow over the landscape and the shadows grew longer. The atmosphere became even more tranquil as the day gradually transitioned towards evening.

À medida que a tarde avançava, o sol começou a baixar ligeiramente no céu e o calor intenso começou a diminuir. A luz suavizou-se, lançando um brilho quente sobre a paisagem e as sombras tornaram-se mais longas. A atmosfera tornou-se ainda mais tranquila à medida que o dia se aproximava gradualmente da noite.
Realizing that the day was coming to an end, I decided to head back. The temperature had cooled just a bit, making the return walk more comfortable. The quay was still and quiet, with the river beside me now reflecting the softer light of the late afternoon.

Percebendo que o dia estava a chegar ao fim, decidi voltar. A temperatura tinha arrefecido um pouco, tornando a caminhada de regresso mais confortável. O cais estava calmo e silencioso, com o rio ao meu lado a refletir agora a luz mais suave do final da tarde.
