Last week was a memorable one for me as I had the best vacation with my big sis who travelled from Lagos state to my state to see two beautiful places she has always wanted to go since her childhood. She got her leave and decided to spend her vacation exploring these two wonderful places and it was a fun-filled and adventurous one, together with my sister. All thanks to her, I lodged in a hotel for the first time. I decided not to let her spend the nights at my place because she wouldn't be comfortable, especially with the public toilets that are used by more than 20 tenants.
She made up her mind to spend three nights at the hotel and I followed suit, became her partner in exploring those two places. For the sake of this post, I will be starting with the first place we visited which is called IKOGOSI WARM AND COLD SPRING which is located in Ekiti State, the western part of Nigeria. The journey to Ikogosi from the hotel we lodged in was two hours. We went on the 9th which was on Monday.
My big sister ❤️
As you can see, we were just checking out on our first day at the hotel for the journey to the beautiful place outside the state. We boarded a cab at the garage which took us directly to the state and later took a bike that took us directly to the warm spring. The tour guide explained a lot of things to us with mythological and scientific facts.
The bike man took us inside where we bought two tickets for ourselves as we could not enter without the ticket. We were ushered into a road which leads to the exact place and there, we would be assigned a tour guide to explain things to us.
We met the tour guide in the video above and the journey began. We were shown the meeting point of both warm and cold water which do not get mixed up.
Both water are flowing easily with no one touching the other. The warm spring flows by the right-hand side while the cold flows by the left-hand side.
The meeting point. The light water is warm while dark and brownish color water is the cold
There is the light water and very pure, it is the warm water while the dark and brown water is the cold water. The warm and cold water are in twos. The warm water represents the father and son where one is warm and the other warmer. The cold water is also two, the two wives; one is cold and the other colder. All are one family.
We dipped our legs to feel both water to confirm it and it was real. God is so great that two different kinds of water are flowing in the same place and none disturbs each other.
My sister feeling the warm and cold water. Her right leg is on the warm water while her left leg is on the cold water
Four different types of springs are located in three different places.
The first place is where warm and cold water meet together which was the first place we were shown and they consist of the father, son and two wives. The tour guide said one of the wives didn't give birth to any children as we were made to know that she was a jealous type which is just like a myth that was made up, Lol.
The second place is where we have the cold water which represents the two wives and it is called cold and cold spring with their names as Awele and Aina Orosun.
The third place is where we have the warm and warm spring which represents the father and son. The father is warmer than the son and their names are Awo-pere Ije and Olosun Ukangunosi.
Many years ago, a hunter first discovered the Ikogosi spring but according to history, it has been there even before the year of discovery. The water is used to heal all kinds of illnesses which is still effective today as many people keep coming to take from the spring to cure themselves. The tour guide told us that if we had come early in the morning, we would see steam like a vapour coming out of the warm spring.
We were shown two different trees from the same root which are the palm tree and mahogany tree.
Normally, a palm tree stands alone to survive but here comes two trees together as they both represent the husband and wife. The palm tree stands as the wife while the mahogany stands as the wife. Both trees coexist together. Scientifically, there is a symbiotic relationship between the two trees as they benefit from each other while using the power of the warm and cold spring to survive.
There is the pot where water is flowing through it from the source to the spring and it adds beauty to it. We were told no one could see the source until a new king was installed and permission was being taken. We spent exactly an hour exploring the spring and seeing how God is so miraculous in making this water heal a lot of people. Many people including students do an excursion to visit this particular place every year to see the beauty of Ikogosi's warm and cold spring.
We left there and set to return home. We saw the swimming pool and how beautiful it is.
We rested for a while as we were already tired before embarking on the journey back home. We took lots of pictures and returned home. In the end, it was an amazing day filled with adventure.
