Hello friends, we set off on the roads in pursuit of new adventures this weekend. We've arrived at a pond here near Waldkirch, a small town near Freiburg. It's a beautiful lake where you can paddle boats. We began our day accompanied by the sounds of frogs. As we started climbing up, we found a small mountain with a viewing terrace nestled among the trees. Wooden paths lead the way towards the observation deck.
The wind was wonderfully soothing. Ducks were swimming around and a small house was made for them where they leave their feed, waddle in to eat and then swim again.
Along our path, we encountered flowers of incredible beauty, giant bushes taller than a person, in red, white and purple colors. These might be rhododendrons. On the left, we spotted a small restaurant. A family had rented a catamaran, taking a leisurely ride together. It's quite intriguing for the kids. This is how people enjoy nature. Weekends in small German towns pass like this. We continue forward. There are signs indicating where we're heading, the Baumkronenweg sign.
As we continued, we noticed informational signs along the way explaining what the trail is and what we might see. It's mainly designed for children, with interesting things along the way for both kids and parents alike. You can slide down from the top through a tube. There are platforms built in the treetops where you can walk.
With a good mood, we carried on. There are interestingly built paths in the forest, like a staircase. A frame is hanging there and when you climb up, you can see the remnants of the castle through this frame. How marvelous. It's like being in a movie, observing the remnants of ancient structures.
We encountered another fun activity on our journey. It's for kids, but interesting for us too. A wheel rolls upward and you release it, watching it slowly roll back down on its own.
As we ascended, we enjoyed beautiful views: a small town and a church. It's a forest church. The surrounding mountains and greenery are stunning. This little town is charming, with plenty for families to enjoy. There's even a small zoo. We climbed up a good path. The weather was a bit damp, with rain showers and intermittent sunshine, mist rose, making the walk a bit challenging but not enough to stop us. Rain or shine, we venture into nature, hiking in the mountains. It's impossible to get lost with signs everywhere. Here, there's an observation deck made for people. You can relax and have a meal while overlooking the greenery and beauty below. Likely, this is part of the zoo. Down there are various animals. Deer roam around. Sometimes wild boars wander too. Everything is beautifully done. We continued on. There are places to sit for those who are tired.
At a stand we were asked to guess which creature is the strongest. Bears or dung beetles? Beetles can lift 850 times their own weight. Very interesting.
We encountered another amusement. You press a button and guess the scents. Strawberry, blackberry and other natural scents. The answers are written on the back. There's a lovely resting area. It's a terrace where you can sit amidst nature.
You can use a magnifying glass to inspect bugs on old trees. You can observe how bugs eat trees and how they decay. Also, there are handicrafts made from natural materials displayed here. Very interesting for children too. We used to make herbariums before. There's a tree man with eyebrows made of moss, a beard made of two stones and branches.
There's a memory game on the way. You need to flip cards and find the same animals. It keeps the kids entertained as they climb. Also, the stands emphasize that the forest and garbage cannot coexist. Children are taught not to leave litter in the forest because it can harm animals. The importance of keeping the forest clean is explained.
Finally we reached our destination. There's a rope swing here, a ladder among the trees and logs for resting. Entry to the park costs 7 euros. A good price. There's an interesting structure here shaped like an owl. There are two headphones and microphones above listening to the forest. These microphones transmit the sound of the forest to headphones. Very interesting.
For children and adults alike. We're looking at everything and it's all very interesting and educational. You can turn in different directions and listen to the sound of the forest. There's a tent, interesting structures made of wood and climbing spots.
This is a great park for children and adults, very educational. There are always many people here. Here again, there's an insect hotel and a panel providing information about it.
Here begins a path that leads to the highest points of the forest. Here you can see how animals lay eggs. For example, the eagle has white chicks. By checking the numbers, you can identify the eggs. Cuckoo eggs, owl eggs; very interesting.
Another interesting thing: a tree shown through glass, showing its growth over the years. A tree born in 1900 reached this width by 1935. Also, the information board indicates what happened each year, for example, the end of World War II in 1945. We saw how the roads were made and how high up we were. We were walking on the tops of trees. It might be a bit scary for those afraid of heights, but very interesting. There's a sign here indicating we're 15 meters high.
At the end of this elevated journey, there's an observation point. 20 meters up, the view is fantastic. We could see the city and the mountains. High up in the treetops, it's a magnificent structure. People are sliding down a tube and their shouts echo. Structures like suspended paths, rope ladders and logs are here.
We found an interesting place, a trail full of obstacles. Our first obstacle is to walk carefully along this path because everything is swaying. Great, we didn't have this in our childhood. A narrow platform. We need to cross a swaying bridge. Boards are placed with different gaps; we need to walk carefully. Lots of fun, bouncing up and down.
We begin our next stage. It's the same path, but this time a bit more challenging; there are ropes in some sections. We're up high, trying not to fall. Not difficult for children but requires concentration.
We passed several ladders, but this time we were higher. We could hear the children's shouts; everything was swaying, the sky, the bridge and us.
It's a beautiful experience for overcoming fear of heights for children. The place where the observation point is 20 meters high, made of iron and wood. We walk, a difficult path, but with songs, jokes, all together. This bridge is swaying too.
It was a great adventure. We walked on the walking paths in the treetops, looked down from above and overcame obstacles on suspension bridges. Then we gathered the mats and rode the magic carpet and slid down the giant slide. Initially not so scary, because the tube was dark, you couldn't see where you were going. Then there are lighted holes.
It started raining, we went down to the observation point and had tea. There was a football field below, music playing. We danced to the music. We sat on a bench and had our meal, then we continued walking and dancing in the forest. Our trip was very interesting and sporty.
