Wednesday Walk in the Black Forest, Germany

in #hive-1637725 months ago

Hello everyone, today we set out on another journey. In my previous post I mentioned that mushroom season has started and today we decided to go back to the mountains near our town to check if there are any mushrooms and to show them to you if we find any.

We started off by car. We saw a beautiful house with trees trimmed into faces. There were a few cows grazing nearby.

Finally we reached our destination, which was a beautiful place. It was windy today, but we were hoping to enjoy our walk in the forest. My mom decided to join us today because we weren't planning to walk long distances. On our previous trip we walked 16 km, but today we planned to walk a little less.

We were heading to check our mushroom spots. We were determined to see if mushrooms have come out early this year because there were plenty of mushrooms in the spot we showed in the previous post. Even if we didn't find any mushrooms, we knew we would enjoy walking in the forest. We usually pick mushrooms in the fall, but this year there has been a lot of rain and the weather has been warm. We were curious if we would find anything.

This year we decided to only collect white and chanterelle mushrooms. I wasn't dressed appropriately for the weather today. It was 20 degrees in the city, but here it was 14 degrees with no wind, the trees shielded us from the wind, so it was comfortable for walking. I had said "We're not sugar, we won't melt" when we were in the city.

My mom had found something, so I was going to look. It was an inedible mushroom. We didn't pick it, maybe it could be eaten, but we don't pick those kinds of mushrooms.

It had rained yesterday, so the forest was a bit wet. The birds were singing. I saw a mushroom. Someone had taken a bite, but it was nice, probably a white button mushroom.

Walking in the forest was beautiful, soft and comfortable. The small pine trees were very beautiful. The bells were ringing, the sun was filtering through the pines. We had found a lot of pine cones and branches. We continued on our way, hoping to find something else. We didn't want to find animals. It would be nice to see a rabbit or a fox. Last year there was a forest here, now there are cut trees and logs. People are preparing for winter, preparing firewood. There are logs everywhere. Last year, this place was a mushroom paradise and full of mushrooms everywhere. But this year they've set up a small sawmill here. They've placed tables here and there in the forest, leaving nuts and pine cones for the squirrels. We encounter these logs frequently.

Last year it was just a forest here. This year they've placed bricks and made small benches. I don't know who's resting here, but there are real brick benches. There's a large sawmill here. Equipment to cut down trees is here. The land is full of tractor tracks. We continued. The mushrooms we saw here this year looked poisonous, so we didn't pick them.

A tree had fallen and been cut here. It looked sturdy, but insects had eaten it from the roots and it had decayed. It was really interesting to look at from the side of the road. My mom felt sorry for the tree, but we comforted her saying there are new trees growing here and new ones will grow.

There were mushrooms, but we were too late now. We don't pick this kind of mushroom. We couldn't find white mushrooms. If we don't pick the mushrooms, I always find a tree and leave the mushroom on it. So squirrels can come and eat this delicious mushroom.

When we left the forest the view that opened around us was magnificent. All the mountains were in front of us. We had been looking for mushrooms in the forest for a long time, so we were tired. We decided to climb this hunter's nest.

We were walking in the forest positively with songs and jokes. We didn't find any mushrooms, but we found a place where we could rest and watch this beautiful view. We often go out into nature and hike to enjoy beautiful views.

We decided to taste the formic acid. Ants are running on this branch and then we will cut this branch and taste it. We'll see if it's sour or not. Whoever did this as a child knows, who doesn't know learns. It tastes like lemon acid, sour.

I found another mushroom. It's a beautiful meadow mushroom, but we don't pick meadow mushrooms, so I'll leave it on a tree for squirrels. Meadow mushrooms are very tasty and squirrels love them too.

Mom found a mushroom and called me to identify it. It was a great mushroom, a button mushroom.

That's how we encounter mushrooms. These are rain mushrooms growing in a small group. Some rain mushrooms are edible, but I don't think these white ones are. We don't pick them.

It was a nice walk. We couldn't pick mushrooms, but we enjoyed it very much. The wind was blowing us, so it was time to go home. See you soon, my friends.

I am curious about how you find out if a mushroom is edible or not?

Hello. We rely on our experience. We consult reliable sources and avoid picking any mushrooms we're unsure about. 😊
