Hello my friends. The other day we set out on a road trip and made a few stops in charming towns. First we went to a town called Castiglione della Pescaia, which is considered one of the most beautiful towns in Tuscany. If you plan to visit here, don’t forget to look for parking on your navigation system. There are free parking spaces and we easily found one. After that, we strolled around Castiglione della Pescaia.

Castiglione della Pescaia is a historic town located in the Tuscany region. It’s famous for its medieval walls, stone houses and narrow streets. Of course, its natural beauty also stands out. You can explore the town’s historical center, walk along the walls and enjoy the breathtaking views. I should also mention that there is a lower section in the town. We were at the top part, which is located on a hill with the more protected stone buildings, while the lower part has a marina with yachts, shops and a more modern lifestyle. But we didn’t stop there. The historical part at the top was really impressive and the view was incredible.

Next we went to Punta Ala, where there is a bay and a marina. This place is famous for its yachting history. So, we got a closer look at the sea and saw some stunning yachts. I love different types of sea vessels. We didn’t have to pay for parking because it was the off-season and free parking was available. We descended toward the sea using a beautiful staircase. Punta Ala’s beach was quite beautiful and clean. We rested a bit here and enjoyed the sea.

We decided to continue our journey, climbed back up the same staircase and headed toward Populonia. While on our way to Populonia, we saw a sea sign and thought we should dip our feet in the water. It was a bit difficult to dip our feet because of the weather, but at least we could touch the water or at least feel the sand and see the sea up close, which was one of the things we most wanted to do. While searching for the sea, we were surprised to discover an equestrian sports club in the area. Eventually luck was on our side and we found the right path and made our way down to the seashore.

The beach had such a beautiful atmosphere. There was no crowd and the water was as clear as a mirror. It was definitely worth the trip.

Then we arrived in Populonia. The purpose of this trip was to visit here because it’s one of my favorite places. I’ve been here before. Not only is there a beautiful castle, but there are also archaeological parks, dating back to the Etruscans. There’s the Acropolis and the Necropolis here. But we decided to start by visiting the castle of Populonia.

This place is surprising because, even though the castle has existed like this since the 15th century, it’s entirely privately owned, meaning the entire town, with its cafes, museum and shops, is private property. It’s a tourist destination, but completely private.

We decided to climb the tower. We started climbing, but a problem arose. We had to pass through a very narrow staircase. Fortunately, we managed to do it. Next I had an easier task, which was to climb the city wall. This place is really captivating. There’s another place I love like this in Tuscany, San Gimignano. These two are my favorites.

Afterward we wandered around the town for dinner. It felt like a typical summer holiday town, but since it’s not the season right now, there was no one around and I think we came at the perfect time. In the very center of the tourist area, there’s a pedestrian street with many shops, souvenir stores, cafes and restaurants. It’s a holiday resort, a peaceful town.

We bought souvenirs for my nephews, a tractor for the little one and of course, a dinosaur for the older one. I call them little scientists. I’ll end my memories of the Populonia trip here. See you on future trips my friends.
