Roll up, roll up.... Who doesn't like the circus? Normally I don't entertain the thought of the circus with animals, however, Hudsons circus has some animals but they are mainly human performances for your entertainment.
Hudsons Circus has been operating for many years and travels the Australian landscape, setting up in places for a month at a time and wowing audiences.
They have a number of different acts including, trapeze artists, aerial gymnasts, circus clowns and juggling acts. Typical of most circuses. They also have a few animal acts, thankfully only of domesticated animals.
Horses parade around the rink and do a few different tricks.
Dogs catch frisbees and do twists and turns in the air.
Camels (a pest here in Australia) are domesticated and stubbornly kneel and bow for the audience.
Although I don't like the animal aspect, these are all domesticated animals that are used throughout Australia for a variety of reasons so being performers in the show seems ok to me.
The best act by far was the 'Sphere of Death'. Inside a metal sphere, motorbikes are ridden at a high speed. I though this was pretty cool when one and two entered. By the time the fourth motorcycle got inside, I found myself closing my eyes and waiting for an inevitable explosion of bike and body parts. But these guys are talented and there was no gore or news story on this day. That's probably the reason why they don't let you film the act!
Anyway, it was an amusing afternoon, especially for the kids and for me, considering it was only my second time at the circus!
