The Igorot Stone Kingdom of Baguio City

in #hive-163772last month

After exploring the Bell Church of Baguio City, we went off to the newest stone attraction in Baguio, the Igorot Stone Kingdom.

From the Bell Church, we ride a jeepney to the Igorot Stone Kingdom with a fare of Ph35.00. Our Baguio Trip is only a DIY trip and no planned tour for this. We wanted it a DIY trip because we wanted to plan our next destination ourselves. I know some of you will not agree with DIY trips for it's stressful, but for us, we love the stress and the challenges it gave to us.

Before you reach the Igorot Stone Kingdom, be ready with a roller-coaster ride. There are narrow roads, some downhill and uphill roads. But rest assured, it's gonna be full of fun and laughter.

We need to pay a Php100.00 entrance fee to get inside the Igorot Stone Kingdom. One thing a traveler must prepare before going to this place, check how strong your legs are because it's gonna be a long walk ahead, and be sure to wear comfortable shoes as you walk along a steep area.

The Igorot Stone Kingdom is one of the newest attractions in Baguio City. It was a man-made stone wall park with an area of 6,000 square meters. How huge is this park, right? This was constructed last 2020 by Pio G. Velasco, after a white carabao appeared on him, signifying him to start constructing the site.

As you enter the place, there are two gold Igorot structures guarding the place. Seeing the line of tourists wanting to get in is proof that many people are visiting the place.

As I entered the place, I was really satisfied with everything that I saw. Everywhere you can see multi-tiered stones. The stone kingdom has two different types of castle structures inside - the Banaue Rice Terraces inspired pile of stones and the modern design Castle-like structure that is dedicated to the sister of the man behind the construction of the place. What an incredible pile of stones it is!

The inspired Banaue Rice Terraces structures are amazing to look at. It showcases the creativity and richness of the culture of the place. On the other hand, the modern design castle-like structure is also stunning. It offers a breathtaking view. At the center, you can see a steel bridge that connects the two kingdoms. You can rent a traditional Igorot outfit at the place if you want to immerse in how it feels to be like them.

While exploring the place, I also saw a lot of life-sized statues of prominent Igorots who had made a name and were proud of their ancestry. There were also statues placed in the different arches on the kingdom side which showcased the rich culture of the people. They both serve as an inspiration to the people of Cordillera.

To get to see the stunning view of the place, we went to the elevated part of the modern design castle. On top, you can see the beauty of the surroundings with the pine trees at the back that serve as the background of the structure. There was also cultural dance accompaniment when we visited the place where tourists could join the cultural dance while dancing on the ground.

It was one of the best experiences I had while visiting Baguio City. You never get tired walking around for you will surely be entertained with the views, the people and the culture they offer. When you go out of the place, there are souvenir shops where you can buy affordable souvenirs for your friends and family.

That's all for today's blog. I hope you enjoy the place as much as I enjoy it. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.

Have a nice day everyone 😊
