Hello friends, I am very happy here because I saw that my post yesterday about cats was very well received, and so many people liked it, so I am continuing my sharing of my findings in this community.
Today, dear friends, I bring you a village of about 2000 inhabitants, located right next to the famous city of Pisa, which many of you will surely know for the famous Piazza dei Miracoli, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
For a while I worked in a company that dealt with the restoration of old houses, maybe I didn't tell you but I have a degree in the restoration of architectural heritage, so in addition to dealing with the restoration of monuments in general, I collaborated for a while with this company that went to these villages where there are these particular buildings, and I did restoration work on these houses.
The pictures you see here are from Castelnuovo Val di Cecina, a village where I have worked a lot, and I want you to discover it, because even if it is not one of the most famous destinations in Tuscany, from my point of view it is definitely worth a visit.
Its history began in the Longobard era, but then developed in the years when this area, was the search for and extraction of metals, in fact this medieval town stands on these very hills rich in metals, but the volcanic subsoil is also rich in heat, which is used here to heat the houses.
When I come to these places, I like to walk through the streets of this village in peace and quiet, and observe everything that goes on in the life of this small town, and then I always take a tour of the church of Santissimo Salvatore, a church still built in the year 1000, and I must say that although it is very simple inside, it is well preserved.
When you enter this simple church, it feels like stepping back in time, like stepping into the Middle Ages.
I forgot that this church holds one of the oldest crucifixes in all of Tuscany dating back to the 14th century, one of those of the Pisan school.
If you look at the houses, they are arranged next to each other, this is because when they built this hamlet, it was arranged in a cluster, in fact if you have the chance to come here and look at it from a distance you can see it in the shape of a cluster, this is because the houses arranged in this way had less heat loss, and here stones that had been built did not need as much heating.
That time I did my exploration, I still remember that I did not find so many inhabitants on the street, probably some moving for work, but many nice animals including a small dog that keeps following me again, and several cats playing free.
Living here will certainly be difficult, because services are certainly not around the corner, but the silence here is truly unique, and that alone makes you live a quality life.
So guys if you are going to give it a thought, there are some houses that are still for sale, I hope you enjoyed this exploration in this hamlet, I will certainly bring more posts about these beautiful places that need to be enhanced.
Thank you and see you in the next post, Hi!
