Hello dear friends,

Today I want to share with you some more photos that I took during my last visit to Tuscany, in another small village that I discovered along the road of my exploration. I have already shared several posts about this journey here in the community. This little village is called Celle sul Rigo, and it is located under the municipality of San Casciano dei Bagni, always in the province of Siena. Being a very curious person, I checked the last census done a few years ago in this place, and it shows that only 370 people were residents, but probably if it were done now, there would be even fewer.

I took my usual stroll through this village, and the first thing that struck me was this fountain, which must be very ancient. Then, I walked up the cobbled streets, which unfortunately are often steep, but I must say that I'm used to it by now. I also like how they managed to use the space to let the village streets pass practically under some houses, as you can see from some photos I shared. In the past, people were very, very intelligent and tried to make use of every space.

Of course, the landscape from this village is beautiful, offering a superb view of the Crete Senesi, a stunning attraction in these parts. This place has always been called like this because under the village, there are supposed to be sacred cells, which are a kind of caves that most are not even visitable. They were used as a refuge in times of war, but, in reality, they were cells where wine was left to mature.

One thing I noticed during my walk is the Ancient Clock Tower. Probably in antiquity, this tower was part of a larger defense system, maybe a beautiful castle. Unfortunately, nothing remains of this castle, and I also noticed that from this village, you can see another beautiful village, Radicofani. If you notice in some photos I shared here, you can clearly see the castle.

The only regret I had coming here was that I wanted to taste the famous "pici." I think you know what I'm talking about, as it's one of the very famous dishes in the world of Tuscany. Unfortunately, the only place where you can taste it was closed, so I will come back another time for sure. Also, because, in my opinion, here in the summer, it's pleasantly cool and breezy, making it the ideal place to escape the heat of the plain.

In conclusion, I can say that Celle sul Rigo is the ideal place for those who want to unplug a bit and find some serenity with themselves. Like other villages I have visited, I found it in excellent condition and well-maintained, and I hope it withstands the test of time. Above all, what struck me is that I tried to share with my photos; you can also admire beautiful landscapes from here.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I hope to encourage you to personally visit these places, and in the meantime, I wish you all a good day.

Nice overlooking scenery. Also the structure components of the village is interesting.
