Hello dear friends,

Finally, today I found some time to create this post, and the photos I'm sharing here are very fresh because I took them just yesterday. I was working in the province of Bergamo, and during the few free hours I had, I decided to visit the upper part of the city of Bergamo.

I confess that it wasn't my first time visiting this place, but it had been about ten years since my last visit, and I couldn't quite remember what there was to see in this upper part of the city. However, I must say that I was truly amazed by what I saw during those few hours.

The upper part of Bergamo is undoubtedly the oldest part of the city, situated on a hill at an altitude of about 100 meters above sea level. This ancient part of the city is surrounded by 16th-century Venetian walls and houses many historical buildings and important monuments. I visited Piazza Vecchia, where you can find the Palazzo della Ragione, the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, and the Colleoni Chapel. It was truly moving to stroll through the streets of this part of Bergamo, most of which are cobblestone-paved, with the opportunity to get lost among very historic buildings.
This square, as I was saying, called the old square, if I remember correctly, has also been a location for several films that have been shot here, and you can understand this because scenically it is a very beautiful square.

In the end, I didn't have time to go inside any of these places, but if you visit this city, I highly recommend entering the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and the Colleoni Chapel, as they are artistic masterpieces.

By the way, you might notice a not-so-tall tower in one of the photos, which is called Campanone because, as the sign below it explains, it houses the largest and oldest bell in the Lombardy region, and probably one of the largest in Italy, hence its name.

I also photographed an ancient washbasin dating back to the 1300s, which was used for thousands of years by the women of this upper part of Bergamo to wash their clothes. It's something truly unique that I hadn't even seen in Tuscany.

In conclusion, I can say it was a wonderful experience. I would recommend to anyone in the vicinity of Bergamo to visit the upper part of the city, as it's truly a hidden gem, something incredibly unique, like stepping back in time.

I hope you could enjoy my photos, even though they may not be of the best quality. Unfortunately, I had to use my work phone because my personal one had a dead battery. I also hope you appreciated the place I introduced you to. I wanted to change things up a bit from the usual Tuscan villages to avoid any chance of boredom.

See you soon, my friends! In the meantime, I wish you all a great day! Hugs!

Wow, the photos are truly amazing! I really liked the low tower! She looks very exclusive! I really like the colors. All buildings look very elegant! A work of art. I would really like to visit this place!

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the photos and found the architecture impressive! The low tower and the overall elegance of the buildings can indeed make a place fascinating to visit. If you ever have the opportunity to visit this location or any other place you find intriguing, it can be a rewarding experience to explore the architecture, culture, and atmosphere in person.

Bergamot is without a doubt beautiful being one of the oldest, it reminds me of medieval movies because of its structure, I love to watch those movies.
