Hello dearest friends,
Today's plan was to create another post about another place I had seen during my Christmas holidays, but unfortunately, I lost some of the photos because my phone got damaged. So, the only thing I saved from this experience that I wanted to share with you are the photos of this castle, which is located in the wonderful region of Tuscany, a place I am passionately in love with.
Today, I have no choice but to make this post with the photos I managed to save, and they relate to the castle of Poggiarello, a beautiful fortress located in Poggiarello di Toiano near Sovicille. Let's talk about something truly beautiful and genuinely evocative, like the medieval architecture that makes it a truly touristy place of interest.
We find ourselves in a beautiful, in my opinion, part of Tuscany, characterized by a very rural landscape and rich in vineyards.
But let's start from afar. Where this castle stands, there was once an ancient Etruscan necropolis, just to give you an idea of the importance of this place. Around the 12th century, the castle was built and later converted into a country residence, transforming it from its original defensive purpose to a residence. Currently, the entire property is private and belongs to the Fineschi Pianigiani family.
When I was in this area, I couldn't visit the castle because it's private property. It has been transformed into a farm that produces high-quality wines. In the photos I share with you, I also managed to capture the chapel dedicated to Saint Augustine, built around 1700. Unfortunately, it can only be visited on certain occasions.
I discovered this place almost by accident because there is an excellent agriturismo nearby. I highly recommend trying the cuisine of this agriturismo if you happen to be in the area. It seems they may also have some places for rent for overnight stays. I regret only having saved photos of the beautiful surrounding landscape, so you have to trust my review a bit.
Thank you for the time you've dedicated to reading this post. I hope you can visit this place in person someday. See you in my next post
