I recently had the opportunity to visit Nobo Shalbon Bihar in Cumilla, Bangladesh on a cloudy day. As I arrived at the entrance, I was greeted by lush green trees and a serene environment. The temple is situated in a forest, which made the experience more unique and peaceful.

The district is home to many archaeological sites, including the Mainamati Ruins and the Kotila Mura. These sites date back to the 7th century and are believed to have been important Buddhist learning centers. The Mainamati Ruins, in particular, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attract many visitors every year.

I started my tour by exploring the outer area of the temple. I saw beautiful sculptures and intricate designs on the walls. The architecture of the temple was truly mesmerizing, and I couldn't help but take multiple pictures. The serenity of the surroundings immediately put me in a relaxed state of mind.

As I entered the main temple, I was immediately struck by the peaceful atmosphere inside. The temple was decorated with colorful flowers and candles, and I could smell the sweet aroma of incense. The interior was spacious, and the air was cool, making it an ideal place for meditation.

The highlight of my visit was definitely the meditation hall. The hall had a unique design and was surrounded by large windows that allowed natural light to flow in. It was such a calming experience, and I could see why many people come here to find inner peace.
I walked around the temple, admiring the serene environment. I came across a small lake, which was home to many birds. The birds chirped and sang, which added to the peaceful ambiance.
A 30 feet high Buddhist statue weighing about 6 tons and made of metal material received as a gift from Thailand has been installed in this temple. Which is placed on the roof of the temple in Bihar so that the idol can be seen from far away.

Apart from its historical significance, Cumilla is also known for its scenic beauty. The district is surrounded by hills, rivers, and forests, which make it a perfect place for nature lovers. The Madhabpur Lake, located in the Madhabpur Upazila of Cumilla, is a popular destination for boating and fishing.

The people of Cumilla are known for their hospitality and friendly nature. The local cuisine is also a must-try for visitors. Some popular dishes include shorshe ilish, a fish dish made with mustard sauce, and chitol maacher muithya, which is a type of fish cake.
