Hello.
Today I will take you to a place where I find spiritual peace. Whenever I come to Istanbul, I definitely visit Eyüp Sultan Mosque. The high school I attended was here and I found my cat at home in the courtyard of this mosque. For me, none of this was a coincidence. I think I have a special bond with this place. On my last visit, I caught some beautiful shots for you. Let's take an online tour together.
First of all, I would like to show you the outer areas of Eyüp Mosque and Tomb.
This is the part where the historical tombs are located. Here are the tombs of pashas and important people belonging to the Ottoman period. The back view of Eyüp Mosque just across it.
Eternal Eyüpsultanlılar Fountain comes across at the beginning of the slope that leads to Pierloti when we walk down the cemetery road. The names of important people in the cemetery are written on the fountain.
Birds have always had a special place since the Ottoman period. Especially at that time, birdhouses were added to the outside of the buildings for birds. If you type ottoman bird houses on Google, you will definitely come across it. That's why there are always pigeons and people feeding them in front of the mosque. They have been feeding those birds in front of the mosque since I was a kid. Now, instead of the square, a special area has been made for them and people who want to feed them feed the birds in that special area.

Side entrance to Eyüp Sultan Mosque and Tomb.
A huge plane tree welcomes us in the garden of Eyüp Sultan Tomb. This tree is thought to have been here since the conqueror conquered Istanbul. Because it is known that Akşemsettin was his mentor who planted the tree. Akşemseddin was the first to deliver the sermon in the Friday prayer in Hagia Sophia after the conquest. It has a valuable place for Fatih Sultan Mehmet.
Entrance to the tomb. You must take off your shoes and be quiet when you enter, because there are people praying inside.
A few valuables welcome us at the entrance. These are as follows, in order:
Frame ; The leaves of the tree that our Prophet Muhammad planted with his own hands.
Sakal-ı Şerif (The Beard of the Prophet Muhammad) and the box in which the beard is placed.
Tile Sheet; A fragment of the section where his grave is located. In other words, the green tile of Ravza-i Mutahhara.
The triangular stone; Haceri Natik; It is said to be the stone that spoke to the Prophet Muhammad.
It is possible to come across many cats here.
Here is the tomb of Eyüp Sultan. It is thought that he was lying in the murmur. The mother-of-pearl inlaid door at the entrance is the door made by Abdulhamid II with his own hands. Eyüp Sultan has a great importance for the Ottomans. That's why the sultans gave gifts to his tomb to show his value to him.
The tombstone in the tomb belongs to the Nişancı Mir Ahmed Pasha. He is a statesman who lived during the reign of Fatih Sultan Mehmed Han. Those who died at that time wanted to be close to Eyüp Sultan Tomb.
Tomb exit door
Tile Art; It is the art of decoration brought by the Turks from Central Asia. It is possible to see tile decorations in Ottoman period buildings everywhere. You can see it both indoors and outdoors. I have a great admiration for tile art.
I think it's a very demanding job. As I see that all the walls are covered with these, my respect for the effort grows even more.
I was going to go inside the mosque, but when I saw people praying there, I didn't want to disturb and disrespect. That's why I'm going to share its outer courtyard with you. At the time of people's prayer, my friend and I went to the area where the women prayed.
After our prayer was over, we wanted to distribute something for our intentions. In our traditions, if your prayer comes true, there are customs such as giving out something to people and helping the poor. Even though my prayer has not come true yet, I wanted to distribute Turkish delight. When someone offers you something sweet in this way, good intentions are offered to that person May Allah accept your prayer. If you go here and see people offering you free sweets at the door, don't be surprised. :)
I say this because the tourists who came to visit my country were a little surprised. They may have mistook me for either a salesman or a beggar. In particular, there was a very sweet Korean group. They thought I was the seller. :)
See you on the next trip.
love.💜
