For the last two years, my Hive account's profile picture was a picture of a lotus flower. Lotus is one of the most popular flowers in China. I have seen a separate and significant effort given to lotus flowers in most of the scenic spots in China, especially the places for tourist attractions with natural beauty. I have explored many scenic areas in the Beijing Municipal and found lotus almost everywhere. My last visit to the Olympic Forest Park has given me another opportunity to explore the beauty of lotus in almost every corner of the park.
If I make a brief introduction to the Olympic Forest Park, I would like to tell you that in Beijing, the Olympic Park is a huge, beautiful piece of land that has become an important part of modern Chinese society of the Beijing people. The size of the park is 680 hectares, or about 6.8 square km, and is split into the southern and northern parts. It was built for the 2008 Summer Olympics. The park is meant to show off a range of landscapes, including wetlands and greenery areas with native plants to big forests with old trees. Different parts of the park have different views from various angles so that people can enjoy their surroundings and the natural beauty of the park.
I have spent most of my time exploring the lotus ponds full of lotus plants and most of these flowers are currently blooming or going to bloom soon. So, I have the opportunity to have the look at every stages of the blooming process here. Like me, I have seen so many tourists exploring the lotus at each part of the park.
It was a very hot and sunny day but the crowd near the lotus flowers seemed to be a great attraction for tourists of all ages taking photos with these beautiful scenic views.
The total park area is properly planned with many artificial watery areas connected with many wooden bridges and some wider water canals have concrete bridges also. Each part of the park has a different tree theme and concept to make a better beautification. As it is summer season and the spring has already gone, the green leaves of each of these trees make it an awesome place to have fresh air. The many flowers have also filled the air with different fragrances that can be experienced in the walkway through the whole park.
The beauty of flowers is not confined to the lotus only, there is a lot more to explore. But the extreme summer is not the perfect time to explore all flower trees in full bloom. But still, there are many kinds of flowers along the walkways in the park. I am going to take you to these beautiful flower streets and lotus ponds of the Olympic Forest Park in this post. All the water bodies here contain a portion full of lotus plants and most of the plants are now bloomed with beautiful lotus flowers that make the scenes so stunning that you can spend a great time near these lotus ponds.
The park is interesting because it protects and shows off different kinds of trees. This makes it a safe place for animals and plants in the middle of Beijing City. As you go deeper into the park, you'll find a calm lake that sparkles in the cloudy sky by reflecting the trees above. To connect the lotus ponds, the park has a lot of wooden and concrete bridges. Some of the bridges are lined with thick bushes, which can be scary for people who are walking alone.
Tourists like me find comfort in nature while on these walkways and there are many lakes like a complete network throughout the park, especially the middle part of the southern part of the park is mostly has water bodies. I have seen many people riding some boats, especially the children with their parents to enjoy their holiday as my tour was on Sunday, the public holiday.
I have seen the huge crowds exploring the lotus beauty near the eastern gate from where I left the park after my tour to the park. I saw the huge crowds there who were enjoying taking photos with these beautiful lotus and some people were doing professional photography with their huge photography set up there. But the best thing that I notice that everyone was enjoying the moment with such stunning views.
