Greetings from Beijing my dear Hive fellows!

After visiting the southern part of my living place Huairou City, I am moving to far north of the Beijing Municipal. As Beijing is a vast municipal most of the parts are not like a normal megacity and the northern part of the Beijing Municipal is covered with hundreds of mountains and many lakes. I am lucky enough to live in the nearest city Miyun City which contains the biggest lake in Beijing Municipal known as the Miyun Reservoir. In most of the northern section of Beijing Municipal, most of the explorable Great Wall is located in this area also where most of the tourists, especially the foreigners visit only these areas. But there is more to discover in these mountains. My living place is around 70 km north of the city center and today I am going to talk about this great lake in the district of Miyun which is farther than 30 km north from my living place place Huairou.

So, in total, the Miyun district is around 100 km north of the Beijing city center. But truly speaking the beauty of this is enhanced by the large lake in the midst of the district which is far ahead of any other district of the Beijing Municipal. And if you love mountains like me as a nature lover, then this district is a real gem in the tour list of the Beijing Municipal. Also, this far north the Sporing is seen more deeply in the month of May of the year. The district's splendid beauty will certainly surpass that of any other district in the southern area of the Beijing Municipal.

Undoubtedly the beauty and importance of this huge lake walk together for a megacity like Beijing as it has no significant river in this area like the other big cities of the world. So, the importance of such a big lake is a crying need for the City's demand for fresh water. If I give a short description in brief, then the Miyun Reservoir is the crown jewel of Beijing's local water supply. It is located in the beautiful 'Yanshan Mountains, about 90 kilometers north of the city's busy center. This huge man-made lake is often called the "Pearl of Yanshan" (华北明珒). It's not only functional for the capital's water supply but also a beautiful place for nature lovers and people looking for adventure like me.

This Lake has a Lot of History and Importance for building the city life a flexible one. I have heard from my China Panorama class teacher that in the early life of her childhood, the generation used to suffer from the water supply, especially in densely areas. And so, china began a large-scale project to save water in 1958, which is when Miyun Reservoir was built. When it was finished in 1960, the reservoir was meant to do more than just stop flooding. It was also meant to help with agriculture and meet the growing water needs of Beijing. It is now a symbol of human creativity and the only source of drinking water for more than 11 million people in the city.

Unfortunately, on my visiting day, the weather was not so clear to see the crystal view of the great water lake, though it is a reservoir, I feel it as a lake. Miyun Reservoir covers a huge 180 square kilometers and can hold a gigantic amount of water which is 4 billion cubic meters of water. With an average depth of 30 meters, it's not only amazing, it's very important for Beijing city which is far away from the sea or any river to maintain a good water supply. As a lifeline for Beijing's population and biodiversity, the water body makes sure that people can always get clean water to drink and maintain a balanced ecology.

Miyun Reservoir is like a paradise for people who love nature like me. Miyun Reservoir is an important part of managing water, but it also has a stunning natural landscape with the surrounding mountains. The lake looks like a big gem mirroring the blue sky because it is surrounded by green mountains of different sizes. But unfortunately, my visiting day is not as attractive as it is on the more clear sky day. But I can't get the holidays according to my wish as a regular student of my institute. The waterfall of lush greenery down the hills creates a peaceful scene that is a welcome break from my busy professional life.

The surrounding area has many mountains which is a also forest area, and in my next blog, I will discuss my mountain climbing in this area. A lot of people who love to watch birds and hear their chirping sounds go to the nearby mountains of this reservoir, especially in the spring and fall when the area becomes more beautiful. I have heard and seen about more than a hundred kinds of birds. It is truly fascinating to see these winged friends flying around you.

The whole lake is so big to travel in a single tour but if you're looking for and amazing place to sooth your mind from the busy life, then Miyun Reservoir has a lot to offer. There is a beautiful road surrounding the whole lake that goes around the lake and is great for a relaxing or a lovely drive. When you walk along this road you can see many tourists and the cool breeze bringing the pleasant smell of nature, and the stunning view of the lake will open up a lifetime experience in front of you. For the more daring tourist, there are climbing paths that go through the nearby mountains and give you beautiful views of the reservoir and the land around it.

The area around Miyun Reservoir has a lot of natural beauty, but it also has a lot of spots to discover which are ready to be found. You can see many parts of the Great Wall of China through the mountains close to the reservoir. You can take a step back in time and be amazed by the building that once protected the Chinese Empire from the northern attacks. Also, the Gubei water town which is into the top 5 tourist spots of Beijing is just after this huge lake, I have a future plan for it when fall will end and the colorful scenary will available, I will visit that too.

Around the lake, there are a number of cute towns that give you a look at how people live there. Enjoy the warmth and friendliness of the people who live in these cute towns as you look around. You could eat a tasty meal made with fresh local products, or you could just walk around and enjoy the unique atmosphere.

The reservoir is great for all kinds of travelers because it is beautiful, has historical importance, and has lots of things to do. When you plan your trip, think about the best time to go. The weather is nice and the scenery is colorful in the spring and fall. Dear @tanzil2024 !
Hassan!
This is my first time hearing about Miyun City and Miyun Reservoir!
Is Miyun Reservoir a lake that provides clean water to the people of Beijing?
Miyun Reservoir is amazing because it is as big as the ocean!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dongting_Lake

For East Asians like me, Dongting Lake (Chinese: 洞庭湖) is the most famous!

By the way, You seem thinner than before!😄

It is the largest lake in Beijing Municipal and very important for sustainable water supply in the city. There are many small channels to take the water around the area from the lake. It was my first visit to explore the great water body, and tomorrow I will also visit another point of this great lake as tomorrow is Sunday✌️.
It is very beautiful as the surrounding of the lake contains so many mountains to make the landscape amazing from every direction!
Thanks for reading my post.

Hassan!
Is there a big lake like that in Bangladesh?

No, we have many reivers, some areas become like the lake as a more bigger water body due to the heavy monsoons. We have also many man-made canals fro the rivers for irrigation purposes. And we have a huge source of underground fresh water so we don't need such big man-made water reservoir but govt. is trying have in some areas where India is not allowing water as the rule of International Rivers as most of ther rivers entering Bangladesh from India and they are building hundreds of damns for hydroelectricity production and their agricultural purposes.

I remember that the Ganges River is more fertile than the Indus River. So, Bengal was the richest in the Indian subcontinent!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pala_Empire

Buddhists in East Asia remember the Pāla Empire (r. 750–1161 CE), a Buddhist empire that ruled Bengal.

The Pāla Empire's sensual female sculptures are captivating!😄
