TJONG A FIE came from a prosperous businessman, Capitan and Chinese bankers. TJONG A FIE is an immigrant in Gundon, China. Every nook and cranny is filled with fascinating stories about the life and struggles of Tiong Ah Pi, a successful businessman and philanthropist who had a huge influence on the city.
As written on the tombstone, Tjong A Fie was born in 1860 and died in 1921. Construction of the house began around 1895 and was completed in 1900. Despite being more than a century old, the house is still well-maintained and remains a strong historical legacy. Every corner exudes an old-world charm, filled with stories and history, and everyone who visits, including myself, is mesmerized by the beauty and uniqueness of this house.
From the outside, Tjong A Fie Mansion looks very simple. Like most houses, it appears ordinary, but it has great historical value. While capturing this moment, I saw several windows outside overlooking a small garden decorated with flowers surrounding it. Its simplicity actually adds to the charm of the house and there is a warm and welcoming feeling with every step you take during your visit. There is a special aura of welcome to the story itself. !

When I was at the mansion, I started to capture the moment and take pictures as memories. Its beauty and power seem to bring the past back to life, creating a timeless story in every corner.
Most of the furniture in Tjong A Fie's house, such as chairs, flower pots, photo albums, doors and windows, are original furniture used when the house was still inhabited. Not only do they preserve history, they also give an authentic sense of the past in every corner of the room.
One of Tjong A Fie's descendants still around today is Tong Yen Mey, his granddaughter, who helps maintain and preserve the family legacy. When I photographed her, it showed a deep initiation and love for Tjong A Fie's house, which is now a museum. As the last custodians of Tjong A Fie Mansion, they will not only maintain the strength of the building but also preserve its historical value and beauty.
