After the brief photographic visit to this same square on the left side of the city of Funchal, one of the most beautiful churches on the island is located, the Church “São João Evangelista or simply as Igreja do Colégio”
Its tone is very similar to city council, the yellowish and brownish tones are typical of this place, bringing a lot of harmony to it. It offers a fascinating perspective between history and devotion.
The exterior of the church, in addition to its imposing height, can also see the carved stone with several columns and religious sculptures where the symbolism of Portugal, the coat of arms, once again stands out. The main entrance to the church is via a stone staircase.

According to information available on site, it has a Mannerist and Renaissance style, reflecting the time in which the church was built.
There is a mandatory stop for taxis right in front, due to the number of tourists who visit the historic area of Fucnhal there.
Don't take this as a post where I try to show my devotion, I'm just here for historical purposes about the place.
I don't want you to think this is an affront to any religion.
total respect whatever your type of devotion, it is part of the history of this beautiful island and that is why I decided to show it to you
Inside, the second most beautiful church I saw on the island, with lots of gilded carvings and lots of hand painting, is a true treasure for lovers of sacred art and devotees of Christianity, with its ornamental elements creating a mystical atmosphere.
t is incredible to be able to see the Portuguese tiles inside, where the gilded carvings stand out, and the hand paintings on the ceiling, it is also possible to see the organ that accompanies the masses, and the colored windows, also typical of churches in this case with patterns of geometric structures that transmit light to its interior, and centrally an altar where the Cross of Christ is located.
This ceiling is an inexplicable immensity in that immersive environment of the place where we find ourselves, difficult to explain only when experienced.
Once again I appeal to you not to provoke bad comments about religion. For polo simply means passing through a place of high devotion.
Let's promote peace.
Hope you understand, thank you.
See you in the next post,Thanks for reading
