Oh how the weather can change so quickly from one day to the next here! Much like our lives I guess, for some one day in life can be perfect, the next day everything can be turned upside down. The weather at Captain Creek, Rules Beach, and surrounding areas was the perfect visual depiction of how we should be thankful for the sun while it shines and also try to be thankful and joyful even when it rains. One day the sun was shining, the next tirenchal rains causing floods and roads to be cut off.
Beautiful sunny days in this part of the world in Queensland are pretty typical, even in the winter most days the sun will shine, however, locals say this year has been an exception, one day it will be perfectly sunny, the next the sky's will open up and rain will pour. We weren't really expecting such a heavy downpour the very next day after these photos were taken.
The seas became rough, the coastline rough as the rains came in.
Creeks and rivers rise and some roads become flooded. After some of the recent floods Australia has had recently we were glad to have our caravan up a little higher on a hill, the rains have been unpredictable this year.
After the rains finished, the kids had a lot of fun playing in the food waters, rescuing little fish trapped in the subsiding water and of course getting muddy and wet.
If there is water, why not get the kayak out and go for a paddle.
Nice full and flowing baffle creek.
Recovering the second kayak paddle that got washed away in the flood and trapped in the trees further down the creek.
Don't rock the boat!! Dad and his best mates.
And of course once again the sun shone and we were back out exploring Rules Beach and the amazing stick cubby which someone had built. Living in a caravan with kids when it continues to rain isn't always great but with the right attitude and if you don't mind copious amounts of washing (which also isn't great when you have to hand wash), then enjoyment can be found. On the other side of the rain cloud is the sunshine.
