We finally met Moraine Lake

in #hive-163772last year

Hi Hive Friends!

Canada has many stunning natural landscapes and one of them is the famous Moraine Lake, one of the most visited places in Canada.

Located in Banff National Park, Moraine Lake is a wonder surrounded by mountains and glaciers.

Our trip there was postponed due to recent changes in park access regulations.

Starting last year private cars were no longer allowed on Moraine Lake and a shuttle service was created that required reservations well in advance.

It took a while for our schedules to align but luckily we were able to book the shuttle before the park was closed for the fall-winter season and embark on this adventure!

The landscape surrounding Moraine Lake is simply spectacular with Majestic mountains and rock formations creating a masterpiece of nature.

Several trails start at the lake offering various experiences for all levels and we decided to start on the basic trails that go around the lake through the forest.

Moraine Lake Shore trail

The turquoise water of Moraine Lake enchanted us throughout our walk surrounded by the soft sounds of the water and birdsong.

The Moraine Lake Shore Trail starts at the canoe docks and offers an amazing view of the lake shore.

Along its nearly 3 Km route, we climb 162 meters into the Banff wilderness.

Although many choose to rent canoes to cross the lake's waters our goal was to explore the land on foot so we could see the secret woods and hidden spots along the way, perfect for a lakeside picnic.

We stopped for a picnic at the lake before we continued the trail. The trail ended at a waterfall that is glacial water melting down to the lake.

Rockpile Trail

After completing the Moraine Lake Shore Trail we headed to the Rockpile Trail which offers a different perspective and is only 0.9 km long and is categorized as an easy trail.

We anticipated an easy ride. However, we quickly discovered that a bit of climbing was needed to reach the summit.

But all the efforts were rewarded with incredible panoramic views of the Lake and nature.

The path is well maintained but the final climb requires a bit of agility to climb the rock formations.

It was an incredible day spent with family and nature, a truly incredible experience.

The day was coming to an end and we promised to return next summer to explore the other trails in the park, each with its own peculiarities and we will certainly keep you updated.

Wow. Incredibly beautiful. We visited there when I was a kid… I can barely remember it. I need to go back.

Yeah, go back there and create new memories.

Worth the visit

Tks

Those mountains are spectacular! They appear out of nothing.. it looks like they grow straight out of the water... and that color of the lake.. stunning!

I feel like I was there physically seeing those very clear and beautiful views. The place is truly amazing! Thank you for sharing @us3incanada.

Very happy to know that!

really want to see this view directly, unfortunately there is no place like this in my country, pine trees and lakes that are so blue.

Try to make a visit

maybe one day, even that is very far away. I live in a remote area in Indonesia..😁

Wow, really far, Indonesia is beautiful, at least what i see on pictures and movies

Is that true?? I'm happy to hear that...we have Sabang Island and a lake ( Danau laut tawar).. you can see it..? I live in Indonesia, specifically in Aceh.

On my IG always watch Indonesia travel tips. One day want to visit

yeah...it's really fun and come to Aceh too.

Noted 😊

Now, this is what I call beautiful. It so amazing, nature is truly amazing.

I’m glad you finally got to explore there.

Thanks for sharing this view, glad you didn’t enjoy the view alone.

thanks for you comment and happy that you liked.
indeed its an amazing place and worth the visit for sure
super recommend

WHAT a stunning post, @us3incanada ! The colours and the incredible drama of the mountains... I've been near here, at Lake Louise, in midwinter - and it is such a beautiful contrast seeing the glorious light and reflections. I feel transported! My last trip there, at least 20 years ago, my mum and I walked around the sunny side of the lake, to have a slightly less minus place to eat our sandwiches - but the tomatoes in them were frozen, even in the sun - we had to eat them quickly, before they froze solid and were improssible to chew! Amazing, the contrasts in such climates...

thanks and I can imagine that, so cold and windy near the mountains.
we also want to visit Lake Louise and if possible during the winter to see this contrast.
glad that this post brings you good memories back! cheers
