In last post I've introduced you to my trip to Zakopane. Which had mysterious title, but I've not shared any details. In this post I will unveil reasons behind it ;-) Or warm weather in Zakopane was unexpected...
After first afternoon in the city we decided to plan our trip with the easiest hinking trails, and then we will ride a cart to the Kasprowy Wierch and hike some trails at mountain's peak.
Mountain view on the hike to Morskie Oko
This was very promising hike to Morskie Oko. Based on that we planned to hike further. To Czarny Staw and then hike to Dolina Pięciu Stawów.
Snow started appearing on the trail. Which based on views we had seems fine
The more we went up, the weather started to deteriorate. Clouds develop blocking the sunlight
The snow in my hand was first sign that we might not be best prepared for the trip
It is not looking good... This the entrance to Morskie Oko
The view was amazing - but the sheer amount of snow was alarming
The mountains peaks where fantastic - but only in looks
As planned, we decided to go to Czarny Staw which should be a easy peasy on normal day ... But was not a regular day.
On the way there we started to walk in regular snow.
The path was fully covered with melting snow. It was easy to get stuck or slip. And slip we did. When we reached half of the way the were just right after the snow avalanche. We had no gear to safety pass it. We had to call quits.
Despite failure to reach our goal, the view was fantastic.
We wanted to take more rest to check the way to Dolina Pięciu Stawów but it was closed till mid May so we honestly had only option to go back
We sat down, and heard very loud chirping noise. It was the Spotted Nutcracker. The photo was taken with telelens on the Oneplus 12. I'm really impressed by the quality!
As we already had tickets bough for the cable car we went to Kasprowy Wierch - still without proper gear.
The view was fantastic - the weather couldn't be better. It was 5°C, the sun was shining. The only issue was snow and We were not brave enough to hike in those conditions....
More south - west slope was little better as more snow managed to melt. But hiking trails were full of snow. In which I managed to get stuck to hips.
I've managed to walk for few hundred meters to reach Beskid mountain peak. But did not go further. We decided to go back, and start climbing something more to our skills.
Once back in Kuźnice, we decided to hike towards Hala Gąsienicowa. At the cable car station the stream was really amazing where we decided to reconfigure our clothing.
The view from the trail was really amazing - and no sign of snow!
See, the snow if far far away
But the snow was waiting for us... But this time we were up the challenge and manage to continue hiking. It was much much warmer than before that day.
But the view there was really worth the effort!
On the way down we choose more forresty route where fortunately snow was only between trees not on trail.
At the end we were really exhausted by this 14km hike.
It is my longest post, hope you enjoy the photos.
Cheers,
WallAR
