Hello dear friends of Pinmapple, today I want to show you my visit to a very special place, it is the Inti Huasi Grotto. We visited it a while ago when we were traveling in north central Argentina. the grotto has a small museum and a dining room. My favorite part of the tour were the landscapes that we were able to appreciate to get there, a mixture of potatoes and mountains, because it is located on the edge of the San Luis mountain range.

2.jpg

Here I had my first and only fall on my bicycle during the entire trip, when we crossed a speed bump with a small stream fell and broke his bike, I also wanted to cross the speed bump to help him and since it was so slippery because of the water too I fell. Nothing serious, it was just a scare, but Mateusz's bicycle did break and we had to send it to be repaired in the next town.

3.jpg

In the images you can appreciate how beautiful the territory of San Luis is in the middle of summer. Cool, sunny and still green.

4.jpg

Both the mountains and the cave are of volcanic origin, from millions of years ago. And right here is one of the oldest prehistoric sites found in Argentina, you will find carved stones and bones, cave paintings, most of them are exhibited to the public to appreciate them. although due to the humidity of the area, the traces and paintings have almost disappeared.

5.jpg

Inti Huasi means in Quechua "house of the sun"

6.jpg

According to scientific evidence, it is believed that the first human settlement was established a little over 6,000 years ago, that pre-Hispanic humans used the cave to protect themselves from the sun in summer and from the rain in winter.

7.jpg

Among the archaeological finds are ceramics, arrowheads, pottery, remains of paint, bones and carved rocks.

8.jpg

More complex pieces such as pinwheels, mortars, bone hooks, stone knives and ornamental pieces have also been found.

9.jpg

It caught my attention to find a provincial school in the middle of nowhere.

10.jpg

In the background you can see the modest mountains of the Sierra de San Luis.

11.jpg

That night we had to camp in the middle of nowhere near the road and at night we could hear the cattle walking near the edges of the farms.

12.jpg

The next morning we continue on our way to CΓ³rdoba.

13.jpg

Thanks so much for reading. I send you a big hug from Argentina!

Fresco, soleado y todavΓa verde.

4.jpg
