Hey everyone,
So just yesterday, a friend and me decided we'd go out for a walk & a coffee ā
nothing unusual, anything is better than sitting in on a nice day āļø especially in Ireland, where it rains 4 out of 7 days. Mostly.
But as I awoke, I didn't feel like going for a coffee...
I wanted to explore & visit yet another location that has been on the cards for quite a while...
š§
^ Me looking happy that I came out unscathed and alive to share this magnificent tale. š
As many of you may know, Ireland is a country that keeps on giving when it comes to History.
Almost every week, excavators are finding new grave sites and unearthing new finds constantly.
We are a country full of hidden gems! š®šŖ
The one site we decided to visit though, has stood in time almost as it was the day it was built...
A Tomb, built approx 5,000 years ago.
3,500 BC. 2,037ft high.

The tomb is believed to have been a burial site for a person/people of importance, which isn't uncommon in old Irish history.
Usually either a High King or a Priest will have been buried at these sites. š
Strangely enough when it was excavated in 1931 no bodies were ever found. Which they believe nobody may have been buried there at all, which would be quite strange considering they carried a million stones up to the top of this hilltop for nothing.

Or maybe it was aliens... š¤
They do strongly believe due to the ground being so flat once you get to the top that there would have been a settlement of sort. š
Unfortunately on the walk up, my oul buddy oul pal decided to bring us up the wrong way.
Not only did he fail us, Google Maps did also.
The trail for us began at the very bottom ā¬
ļø of the mountain, which meant we had to walk all the way across to eventually make our way onto the actual trail we were originally supposed to take... š¬
^ This sign-post suggests we may have gone the wrong way...
^ The walk up was genuinely fantastic.
Nearly drowned in the mud, but overall super phun time. š
^ Me, giving a big wave and a thumbs up š
^ The entrance to the tomb!
From the top there lays a stone which has 5 lined markings on it which may stand for the 5 different chambers inside of the tomb... š
^ Hard to think, but the descent was worse than the walk up. Reason being, not only were we almost an hour away from the car šš
We were also exhausted and our feet soaked from the enduring walk up to the top.
But nonetheless, super fun time 10/10
Thank you.
