There's a popular saying by Socrates which goes this way:
To know thyself is the beginning of wisdom.
Knowledge of my self and the limit of what I could take started the day I almost fainted in an examination hall because of hunger hehehe
A lot of us have that particular thing we don't dare to toil with before an exam. Ok I know alot of you go to exam halls on an empty stomach. It's something I can't try doing, not after the unforgettable experience I had in second semester of second year in school.
I know you've probably had your own experiences of being hungry in an examination hall. I'm going to tell you my own tails. It's always funny whenever I tell it to junior collegues and some of my friends. But to me it wasn't a funny experience at all, not after what my eyes saw that day haa. I almost failed that particular exam.
Two major things I don't joke with prior to an exam is good sleep and eating before entering the hall.
So after crossing over to a different campus after year one, I was told that things operated differently here, my senior colleagues advised me to double my efforts. And part of the what it takes to double my efforts was more reading especially at night since the day was almost occupied with school work, and you'll probably be tired or feel very weak to read in the evening after class.
Prior to this I had tried several methods to keep me awake but it doesn't even work in any way. I've kept my legs inside bucket of cold water, I only woke up the next morning to see myself still sleeping with my leg in the cold water haha.
I've also tried using nescafe and TomTom, they don't work for me. Well don't be shocked, I'm a day reader hehe and I value my sleep so much plus sleeping at night helps me function at optimal level the next day.
So a day to this particular exam, I had discovered a new technique from a friend which he used to keep himself awake. He wouldn't eat that night so it'll make him hungry and he can't sleep when he's hungry. Boom hehe I tied it and it worked. So I read all through the night before the exam, that's because I didn't eat. When I decided to catch a little rest the early hours of the exam morning, I found myself waking up by 8:am for exam scheduled to hold by 8:30am. Out hurry, I forgot about eating though I was hungry.
On getting to the exam venue, the examiners had not arrived and the examination didn't start till 11:am and once in the premises it was difficult to go back to get something to eat as we didn't know when the examiners will come eventually.
Long story cut short, exam started by 11:am. When I got the question papers, I couldn't even make out the question. It was as if I had been fasting for seven days hehe. I quickly raised my hand as if I had a complaint, when one of the examiner asked what it was I told him I can't continue the exam and that I was hungry and I need to eat something. Other students started laughing hehe. the examiner was shocked, he told me to just manage and round up the exam but when I told him I couldn't see the question very well he knew I was serious after asking if I had any eye problem of which I responded no.
He permitted me to go outside and search for something to buy. I didn't see anything close by as the canteen is far from the exam hall. I came back this time feeling cold and already shivering but sweating at the same time. My friends got a sweater for me hehehe. That was my first time of experiencing hypoglycemia haha (effects of low glucose in the blood). I went back to the hostel after the exam. After eating, I discovered that there were questions I didn't even see in the exam hall hahaha. Let's not talk about the result of the exam hehehe. Although I didn't fail but it was a narrow escape.
So you see the reasons why I don't joke with sleeping and eating before any exam hehehe. I hope you learned something from my experience.
Thank you for reading through.
