Just Let It Go Bruv

I guess we all have that one thing that we can't afford to lose and as such we protect it and if possible repair it as many times it spoils...this I totally understand, but then there are some petty things I feel we just have to let go, but then some people hate to let go of even tiny handy torch light after it spoils...they go to the length of looking for a supposed engineer to fix it for them.

I repair electronics so we see those customers alot...funny thing is this customers don't even care about how fragile the little wires of those electronics are wired with, and as such even if you give them a thousand reasons why the success rate for that particular device is 50-50, they will just tag you as a quack engineer.

But really though, as a professional computer engineer are we supposed to be repairing torch lights??

Well In This post, I will share one of those life encounters with people that believe as an engineer you should know how to repair all electronics even down to earpieces...

So it was on a Saturday afternoon, I was just minding my business and listening to music with my airpods, when one of my guys, walked up to me told me to stretch forth my hands, of which I did without even thinking twice...all that was on my mind was that he probably wanted to do some giveaway for his guy, only for him to drop a damaged earpiece in my hand with a mischievous grin. And the next thing that came out of his mouth was " please help me repair it."

I have encountered similar problems like this before, but this was just too wild — like I thought people buy new ear pieces after the one they use spoils why did this guy now decided to stress me with his miniature device....In Fact at that moment I actually couldn't tell if he was actually trying to punish me but I could tell he was really serious with his statement.

Well after minutes of processing, I calmed myself down, and decided to try it out, with the hope that he will sponsor my night meal that day.

Writing this, I see how unserious I was lol. Why on earth would I think someone who couldn't buy a new earpiece, but decided to repair the one he had, would sponsor my meal lol.

Anyways, after spending close to an hour on just an earpiece, reattaching and attaching majorly because of how small and delicate it was, I was able to fix it,

and I handed it over to him later that evening, hoping that he will buy one or two things for me. Only for me to receive a "thank you" as payment lol. Well, even after I had given him the earpiece, I still didn't know how a normal human being would be able to use it confidently in public, but then again for a person to think of wanting to repair stuff like that, the person is most likely not normal in the first place lol.

After a day, two days, without him complaining about the earpiece, I thought I was actually free, but that was a lie...about a week later, he came again with the same earpiece, telling me that the second ear also cut while he was sleeping with it plugged in.

On hearing this, and remembering how long I spent the previous time, I voiced out with a loud and perplexed voice, as If begging for my life " Boss, can you please let this earpiece rest in peace, and buy a new one?"
That question alone did the magic for me, as it was like a rhetorical question, one for him to go and think about lol.

So please guys, on behalf of the engineers I say let us breathe lol...yes we fix electronics, but not all electronics deserve so much time, and energy we just have to throw them away sometimes lol.

And this looks like one of those earpiece that sells for 1k or at most 1500. I wonder why people even bother to repair earpiece, I just buy a new one when mine spoils
