Hail to the Hive!
When recently reading a post by @blewitt about having to sort through boxes of comics for inventory purposes I remembered that I too had been doing this on a smaller scale recently on a rare visit back to Leicester. When I am back I usually make a porly organised attempt to sort out and off load some of the things I have in storage there. It usually ends up with me finding stuff I forgot I had and getting sidetracked down memory lane.
I have a lot of comics in storage and decided that I would attempt to catalogue and hopefully sell some of them to lighten the storage load and fatten the wallet.
There’s over 300 comics in this box ranging from a ton of Silver Surfers, Shade the Changing man, Hawkworld and a lot of one of limited runs. And a few off beat ones thrown into the mix as you can see.
I actually remember buying these Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle early issues back in the late 80’s in New Mexico, wow that was a long time ago.
Most people have heard of the Ninja Turtles but few I’ll wager will have heard of the
Adolescent Radioactive Blackbelt Hamsters…
Comedy gold and in 3D no less.
Now this ‘Books of Magic’ is by the now very well known and successful writer Neil Gaiman. I’ve been reading his work for a very very long time and it’s no real surprise that a lot of his work is now being gobnled up and made into movies and TV series.
Every few years ( 10 in this case ) i get these comics out with the intention of selling them but get sucked in, admiring the art and creativity that went into them.
I am going to have to part with them though and will be trying to off load these when I return to the UK in the next few months. It really is hard to tear myself away from these though. But part with them I must.
Who knew when I purchased these Infinity Gauntlet and Thanos Quest series that a few decades later the Marvel Cinematic Universe would have exploded on us as it has done and these stories made their way into some of the biggest movies ever made.
I certainly didn’t as I felt I belonged to a nerdy minority of comic book story lovers and never dreamed that it would blow up as huge as it has done. Crazy really.
Well I hope those of you that have read this have enjoyed sharing a peek into my cardboard treasure chest. There’s hundreds more in there so I have my work cut out getting rid of them but I’m hoping they will find their way to the right home.
I’m sure they will
