Diggers Rest Primary School Carols by Candlelight
The holiday spirit was alive and thriving at this years annual Diggers Rest Primary School Carols by Candlelight with over 5,000 people gathered to celebrate Christmas in style. This year’s event was nothing short of awesome and filled with delightful performances by the schoolchildren, food from local food trucks and festive fun courtesy of the CFA and other costumed characters.
The evening blended music, food and community solidarity into a perfect holiday cocktail leaving everyone with smiles as bright as the Christmas lights.
The peak of the night was undoubtedly the students of Diggers Rest Primary School who took to the stage to showcase their musical talents. From classic Christmas carols like "Silent Night" and "Jingle Bells" to more contemporary holiday hits the children’s performances were amazing.
It was wonderful to see the effort each student put into their songs, their faces lighting up with excitement as their families and neighbours cheered them on.
The festive stage was decorated with twinkling lights and Christmas decorations and added an extra layer of magic to their performances by creating a picturesque backdrop for the evening.
No holiday celebration is complete without good food and despite the 35 degree Celsius heat, the Diggers Rest Carols by Candlelight didn’t disappoint. Food trucks lined the venue offering a variety of options to satisfy every craving.
From gourmet burgers and crispy fries to sweet treats like churros and ice cream with the aroma spreading through the air it was as much a part of the festivities as the music. Families gathered around picnic blankets, sharing meals under the warm sun as it began to set and enjoying the warm summer night. For many, this was an opportunity to indulge in local flavours while catching up with friends and neighbours.
Adding to the excitement, the CFA (Country Fire Authority) made a special appearance. Their trucks were a hit with the kids, who excitedly climbed aboard and learned about the important role the CFA plays in keeping the community safe.
The CFA team also handed out safety tips for the holiday season, ensuring everyone had a safe and merry Christmas. Their involvement was a reminder of the incredible service they provide to the community year round, especially during the bushfire season.
What’s Christmas without a little magic? Children were thrilled to see their favourite festive characters walking around the event. From Santa Claus himself to cheerful candy cains the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement.
The Diggers Rest Primary School Carols by Candlelight wasn’t just another Christmas event it was a sign of the strength and unity of the local community. Seeing thousands of people gather together to celebrate the season was truly great to be apart of.
