I was expecting that my motherhood duties would be totally reduced this season as we travelled to my hometown for the Christmas holiday. I anticipated the kind of resting mood I would activate once I reached this villa, but it seems I am experiencing the opposite. However, it's been an adventure for my kids as they tour the whole village, making memories.
The kids literally want to experience every single event going on here, and it's been so hectic controlling their movement. Before I could say a jack or turn away from them, I was already looking for one of my sons, hehehe. In order for them to bond more with other kids around here, my relatives too, I usually leave them to play around the village square, running errands, going to fetch water with a wheelbarrow, going to the farm to fetch some firewood for cooking purposes, and lots more. Obviously they love this kind of lifestyle in the village and aren't showing any interest in returning back to the city soon.
Despite all the fun activities they are having with other kids, they have been insisting on following me for every event I attend. Today was a big celebration at my dad's place, and while I went with them, they had the opportunity to see other relatives, get to know them, and learn how we are related. Just a little explanation for now, but I believe they are catching up at their age.
I have come to embrace parenting and realized that it's also my responsibility to expose them to things they should know and get them to know their relatives as early as possible. This holiday season is a great opportunity, as lots of my people returned home for the season. I feel it is worth every stress even when the holiday season was meant to represent rest.
