Ayer se conmemoro en nuestro país 203 años de la Batalla de Carabobo. Este hecho real se llevó a cabo el 24 de Junio de 1821 en el campo de Carabobo donde Simón Bolívar agrupo un ejército de patriotas para luchar contra los españoles. Bolívar y su ejército vencieron en esta necesaria batalla, y lo más importante es que esta fue clave para lograr la independencia de nuestro país más adelante.

Yesterday was commemorated in our country 203 years of the Battle of Carabobo. This real event took place on June 24, 1821 in the field of Carabobo where Simon Bolivar grouped an army of patriots to fight against the Spaniards. Bolivar and his army won in this necessary battle, and the most important thing is that this was the key to achieve the independence of our country later on.
Ayer me tome el tiempo para enseñar a mis hijos acerca de este hecho histórico, porque siempre les digo que para comprender la historia presente debemos tener conocimiento de la historia pasada.

En primer lugar tomamos una pizarra, le indique a la niña que realizara una resta para saber cuántos años se estaban cumpliendo de este hecho tan importante, así que al restar 2024 – 1821 le dio como resultado 203 años. Y usando matemáticas para ello les quedo fijado a mis pequeños.
Yesterday I took the time to teach my children about this historical fact, because I always tell them that in order to understand present history we must have knowledge of past history.
I wanted to do it in a fun way to make it easier for them to get the message across.
First we took a blackboard, I asked the girl to do a subtraction to find out how many years ago this important event took place, so subtracting 2024 - 1821 gave her the result of 203 years. And using mathematics to do so, it was fixed for my little ones.
Luego con sus juguetes preferidos formamos 2 ejércitos, mi pequeño comandaba a Bolívar y su ejército, mientras que la niña al General Torres y los españoles. El problema es que los 2 querían ganar y ninguno quería resultar vencido.
Al final se enfrentaron y levantaron los símbolos patrios resaltando lo importante de esta batalla para convertirse en un país independiente.
Then with their favorite toys we formed 2 armies, my little one commanded Bolivar and his army, while the girl commanded General Torres and the Spaniards. The problem was that both wanted to win and neither wanted to be defeated.
In the end they faced each other and raised the patriotic symbols highlighting the importance of this battle to become an independent country.
Fue un tiempo muy ameno y divertido con mis hijos, y de esta manera aprendieron algo de historia. Grabamos un video de la batalla y lo estuvieron viendo varias veces sin parar de reír.
Es una estrategia sencilla para enseñar de la historia a nuestros pequeños, de esa forma no les parece aburrida, en palabras de ellos mismos.

It was a very enjoyable and fun time with my children, and in this way they learned some history. We recorded a video of the battle and they watched it several times without stopping laughing.
It is a simple strategy to teach history to our little ones, that way they don't find it boring, in their own words.
