An anchor can mean one of two things, first, it is a device usually of metal attached to a ship or boat by a cable and cast overboard to hold it in a particular place using a fluke that digs into the bottom, in other words, it is a device that holds something in place so that it does not move. Second, an anchor is a reliable or principal support, in other words, it is a pillar or a central part of something.
An anchor by design is an impermanent object or structure, it is mainly needed for a very specific occasion or specific period. By design a human is a progressive entity or being, he/she is designed in such a way that it is an innate desire to move forward and progress. People that do not move forward or have progressed in their lives often feel unfulfilled or feel that they are watching life pass them by.
We all need people and things that are anchors in our lives, we need people that will hold us down so that we do not drift away with the tide of life. We need people to be our pillars in situations where we are not strong or incapable. These people are crucial for the development and progression of a person. It is even more crucial that we are mindful of the people that we allow to be our anchors in our lives.
We must be equally mindful that we do not allow our anchors to be our tethers, things that tie us down to restrict our movement in terms of moving forward and progression. During the anchoring period allow yourself to be developed, allow yourself to be improved, allow yourself to gain new skills, allow yourself to grow, and allow yourself to be molded. Anchoring will one hundred percent improve your life. However be mindful that your anchor does not become your tether, often depending on our anchors is comforting, reassuring, pleasing, fulfilling, and exciting. The next thing one year, two years, and five years have passed without any significant progress in our lives, one was enjoying the exploits of our anchors but had not moved forward or improved one's life.
It is important to face life with one's own strength and abilities. Evaluate and identify the anchors in your life, embrace and learn from them, and also identify the tethers in your life, detach yourself from them and aim to face the future with your strength and ability, and keep moving forward…
