Hello lovely community members. It’s with great pleasure I come into this community with an amazing movie review. It interests me so much that I can’t just live a second without having flashbacks of when I was watching this movie. I have watched movies but the one that stands to win my heart from now on is THE WOMAN KING.

The Woman king starts in the land of Dahomey where women serve as warriors to fight for their kings. Women who were brave enough to sacrifice giving birth and having husbands and dedicated their life of service to the king of Dahomey.

In the land of Dahomey lived the leader of these warriors. She was Nanisca. A true leader who sacrificed a lot for the king. The king whose brother was a traitor to them was overthrown by her and give to him to rule. The king never doubted her loyal and then made her his favorite which was a pain for the king’s wife.

Then was the time of the slave trade where they sold their people and captives from war to the Europeans for wealth. This slave trade brought great wealth to the land of Dahomey, making the kingdom leaders think they can’t survive without it. They had many resources but never seemed to exploit them. Nanisca as a caring leader was against that. She thought they could find a way to stop it and grow from the natural resources they have. That brought tension and everyone was unto it and was afraid.
On the other hand, Nawi who was adopted and his father have been trying to marry her off to a rich man was finally given to the king to be a warrior. That was when the past of Nanisca started hunting her. In the days of the war, she was raped by a man. That man kept her pregnant and because she was afraid of what might befall her, she gave birth but gave the child out without asking.
Nawi joined them trained and won the test of being the warriors of the town. Nanisca could see her attachment to her. She didn’t understand and started having nightmares. It was finally proven she was her child. Breaking the news was hard and wasn’t easy to be accepted by both party.
On the quiets to stopping the slave trade, the king saw the vision in Nanisca’s idea of trading their natural resources like Palm Oil. But for their war, they said “You don’t need a gun to use gunpowder.” So, the war began. They built bombs and that is how they defeated them, in their backyard. They captured some of them and Nawi was one of those captured. One escaped home. After having a conversation with her, Nanisca realized Nawi was part and couldn’t sleep knowing that. He went to the king and honored Nanisca with a title and said they are celebrating tomorrow. Nanisca couldn’t disobey his king but also had a decision to make.

That evening, Nanisca went to escape those captured alone. By daybreak, she realized the warriors will never let her down. They came in their numbers to support her. It was a great victory for them because they finally defeated the people and the Europeans were a real victory. Nabisco had the chance to kill the man who raped them and made her pregnant. They brought everyone home the next morning.
Nanisca knew she had disobeyed her king. But looking at the people rescued and the victory, it was a happy moment in addition to the celebration they would be having on that day. the king made her know she has disobeyed him. The people were happy to see them all. The people knew Nanisca will always protect them. the king named Nanisca the Woman King. A title they knew one day will be hers. She will then serve alongside the king. She deserved it and everyone was happy.
Nanisca finally found peace in her daughter and Nawi also found peace knowing she was the daughter of a great warrior. That was a great story they told very well.
From my side, the movie is wonderful and must watch the movie for leaders.
Leadership is sometimes about following orders but instincts sometimes. The movie will be given 9.8/10 by me. they did great with the movie. It’s a must-watch movie.
