Surprisingly, Netflix has just launched its catalog, which is already a good catalog, with movies and series that are a real gem. The truth is that Netflix has been surprising us all year, for example, with the arrival of Baby Reindeer (a series that fascinated me from beginning to end but I could not review it because I was late for the conversation) it was already clear that Netflix's idea for this year was something interesting, but now it surprises us by releasing without prior notice two of the best audiovisual works of recent years:
-Godzilla Minus One: last year's Oscar winner for best special effects came out of nowhere to Netflix and I can do nothing but endlessly recommend the best kaiju movie of the last decade, with a classic Godzilla that is so technically perfect that it's hard to believe its budget and the sheer scale of the film. On its own, Godzilla Minus One is a feat that deserves a whole post, but Netflix has played its cards right and I need to talk about what else the platform has to offer this weekend, which I assure you, any option is the winning choice to watch and spend the afternoon.
-When Evil Lurks: this one is a bit of a cheat, as it is not yet released, but it is scheduled for this June 21. For some, the best horror film of last year and truth be told, the best Latin American film of last year. With brutally strong images and a story that combines folklore with horror, When Evil Lurks is a must see for every horror lover.
-Dungeon Meshi: well, this series has been on Netflix for a while now but it is still on air. “Tragones y mazmorras” is the title given to it in Spanish and it is an anime from the Trigger studio that takes us on an incredible journey into the dungeons to find a sorceress who was trapped in the dungeons. Having no money, they get a dwarf whose passion is to cook the monsters in the dungeons, and so, a knight, a thief, a mage and a dwarf begin an incredible journey into the dungeons. With incredible animation, hilarious characters and a world to explore, dungeon meshi is as fun as it is addictive.
-Scavengers Reign: after being stranded on an alien planet, the survivors of the Demeter 227 seek to reach their ship again while exploring that fascinating planet. A twelve-episode series that whether you want to binge watch or take your time watching, it's a complete blast. The atmosphere and everything around the planet is so beautiful and well constructed, it feels like the whole ecosystem flows like clockwork, where even the tiniest particle serves in some magnificent way. A series that deserves to be appreciated and that, after its departure from HBO, it was thought that it would never come back, however, upon arriving at Netflix it has a second chance.

De forma sorpresiva Netflix acaba de implar su catálogo que, ya, la verdad, es un buen catálogo, con películas y series que son una verdadera joya. La verdad Netflix tiene todo el año sorprendiéndonos, por ejemplo, con la llegada de bebé reno (serie que me fascino de principio a fin pero no pude hacerle reseña porque llegué tarde a la conversación) ya se veía que la idea de netflix para este año era algo interesante, pero ahora sorprende sacando sin previo aviso dos de las mejores obras audiovisuales de los últimos años:
-Godzilla Minus One: la ganadora del Oscar a mejores efectos especiales el año pasado llegó de la nada a netflix y no puedo hacer más que recomendar infinitamente la mejor película de kaijus de la última década, con un Godzilla clásico y técnicamente tan perfecto que parece mentira su presupuesto y la gran escala que tiene la película. Por si sola, Godzilla Minus One es una proeza que merece todo un post, pero Netflix ha jugado bien sus cartas y necesito hablar de lo demás que tiene para ofrecer la plataforma este fin de semana, que te aseguro, que cualquier opción es la opción ganadora para ver y pasar la tarde.
-Cuando asecha la maldad: esta es un poco de trampa, ya que aún no se estrena, pero está programada para este 21 de Junio. Para algunos, la mejor película de terror del año pasado y la verdad, la mejor película de Latinoamérica del año pasado. Con unas imágenes brutalmente fuertes y una historia que combina folklore con terror, cuando asecha la maldad es una película que todo amante del terror tiene que ver.
-Dungeon Meshi: bueno, esta serie ya tiene un buen rato en netflix pero sigue en emisión. “Tragones y mazmorras” es el título que se le puso en español y es un anime del estudio Trigger que nos lleva de la mano de unos aventureros que entran en un viaje increíble en las mazmorras para encontrar a una hechicera que quedó atrapada en las mazmorras. Al no tener dinero, se consiguen con un enano que tiene como pasión cocinar a los monstruos de las mazmorras, y así, un caballero, un ladrón, una maga y un enano comienzan un viaje increíble dentro de las mazmorras. Con una animación increíble, unos personajes divertidísimos y un mundo por explorar, dungeon meshi es tan divertida como adictiva.
-Scavengers Reign: tras vararse en un planeta alienígena, los sobrevivientes de la nave Demeter 227 buscan llegar otra vez a su nave mientras exploran ese fascinante planeta. Una serie de doce episodios que tanto si quieres hacer binge watching como si quieres tomarte tu tiempo para verla, es una pasada completamente. La atmosfera y todo lo que rodea al planeta es tan hermoso y bien construido, que parece que todo el ecosistema fluya como un reloj, dónde hasta la más mínima partícula sirve de alguna forma magnifica. Una serie que merece ser apreciada y que, tras su salida de HBO, se pensaba que no iba a volver nunca más, sin embargo, al llegar a Netflix tiene una segunda oportunidad.
