Back with a Liam Neeson film, this one from 2014. A dark crime thriller based on Lawrence Blocks novel. The film is directed by Scott Frank.😃
Here we follow Matthew Scudder, played by Liam Neeson, as he investigates a series of brutal kidnappings and murders in New York City, as a former police officer who now works as a private detective. Neeson delivers a solid performance as the tough Scudder and we also meet young T.J played by Brian Bradley and the interaction between them is good in this noir crime. At times it can seem a bit long-winded, but I enjoyed the film, although it contains some genre clichés, it is well scripted and well directed, with a gripping story. A satisfying film for the genre with good character development, which makes the film more than just a standard action thriller. I give this a strong 7.
