Hello hive people, hope y’all are doing great.
Today I’m going to share a review of this series
which got recently released on Netflix called “DAHMER”. it’s a documentary of this serial killer from America called JEFFREY DAHMER.
If you guys like watching documentary of serial killers to know why they did, what they did, and how can a person do so many bad things to people without any guilt and remorse. you should definitely give this one a watch.
ABOUT THE SERIES
AND
STORYLINE
This Man called jeffrey dahmer killed 15 to 20 men and cut up their body parts, ate their hearts And kept their body parts in his house. It’s so horrifying for me to even type this down, I don’t know how can someone do such disgusting things to such young men’s. They were all in the age group of 20 to 30 and one of them was only a 14 year old boy, who got killed by him. He did all of this and never got caught by police. The police department was such a fail and disappointment at that time, you will find out all in this series like why he didn’t got caught or arrested even after killing people one by one.
Even the 14 year old boy who got killed by him was able to escape his apartment but the police department handed him over to Jeffrey again because he told them some fake story and they believed him. They didn’t even thought of checking the id of that kid, they just handed him over to that serial killer. That kid would have been saved and Jeffrey would have got arrested that day if the polish officers didn’t took it so lightly.
MY THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS
I cannot even fathom what the family of the victims has been through. It would have been so difficult for their mother’s to went through this pain, their son’s, got killed at such young ages. It’s such a heartbreaking thing to even think of.
To think that there is actual people out there just like him but we probably don't know about is absolutely scary!
It's just disgusting
The police should had done something about this from when they got the first phone call, from the neighbour of Jeffrey dahmer, his neighbour named Glenda Cleveland called the police department sever times but no actions were taken at that time.
And the fact that DAHMER was so aware of all of his actions and still did it is absolutely terrifying.
this makes the series a hell of a lot more haunting, when you realize this is essentially a carbon copy of what actually happened. absolutely chilling how calm and calculating a monster like dahmer is. i always imagined you’d have to be pretty stupid to do shit like this but its always the most articulate, intelligent, and charming people behind the most heinous crimes.
ACTING AND CASTING
Let’s talk about the casting and acting of the actors in this series. I mean the casting is amazing. This might be one of the first times I've ever looked up the casting directors for a film or series. Their names are Eric Dawson, Carol Kritzer, and Robert J. Ulrich. They've all been working since the late 80s and they've all been working together since that time as well. It appears they do quite well together.
EVAN PETERS who played the role of Jeffrey dahmer was seriously phenomenal, he deserves every single award. imagine how mentally strong he had to be throughout this whole thing props to him. He was incredible. Not many people could act the way he did. He went all in. It was on spot on how he played this terrifying person, he's incredibly talented. I truly hope he's okay after playing such a dark role.
He tapped into his character and made this series incredibly realistic and authentic. It was not an easy role to do but he did it so effortlessly.
He definitely deserves more recognition.
Let’s talk about the man who played the role of the father of Jeffrey dahmer.
Richard Jenkins played the role of the father. He has such great acting skills and he also look like the real one. I thought the scene right after he got convicted where the Dad confessed to being at blame was the best scene in the series.
All the other actors also played their roles very well. All the victims and their families they made it look so real. Great casting. Finding people that look like the real victims and family members isn't easy. neither was acting the parts i'm sure! I think as a whole it was really put well together! A lot of times we get "based on a true story" and the actresses or actors don't even look at all like the real people
The court scene was also made very, very well! So accurate!!
Great acting!
Chills down my spine while watching that scene when the woman from a victim’s family screamed directly to Jeff. You can feel the emotions.
CINEMATOGRAPHY
The cinematographer of this series was absolutely amazing. They made it look like the actual spots which the incidents took place in, such as Jeffrey dahmer’s apartment building and the apartment itself. It all happened in the early 90’s and they provided all the looks which made it look like the 90’s. The lighting, camera angles, framing, focus everything was spot on.
MY FINAL THOUGHTS
Every single character in this series was uncannily spot on!
The story telling, the acting, the sound work. Everything was just flawless. The "silenced" episode was the one which really blew me away.
The stroy telling was just soooo flawless.
I watched so many interviews of the real Jeffrey dahmer and his story and let me tell you everything was so on spot that i couldn’t find a flaw in anything.
You should definitely give this one a watch even if you generally don’t watch crime mysteries or serial killer documentaries. You will not be disappointed.
In my opinion this is the best series Netflix has ever done on a serial killer documentary.
I will therefore give this series a rating of 9.5/10.
