Succubus | Review: More Like Sucks A Lot

in #hive-1668472 months ago

First off, what the fuck?

I wouldn't say I wasted 1hr 30 mins watching this because I had made up my mind to live a little for that long after weeks of non stop working.

But still, what the fuck?

Fair warning, I'm not some unhinged movie critic, I'm quite frankly easy to please when it comes to movies, all you gotta do is not be boring and I also appreciate clean filmed movies, yeah, that's about it.

After all, the only reason I'm watching is to be entertained, not here to be schooled or make some wild west discovery, keep that shit out of recreation or do you disagree? If so, why so serious all the time?

But Succubus just sucks a lot. I don't think I'm stressing this enough but it's really bad.

Funny to think I had already seen the poor ratings but went ahead to dig it up and burn some hours on it, you're welcome guys, I just burned some time tokens, I guess our available supply just got more scarce. :)

Succubus | Russian Federation | Horror - Thriller

Apparently but the only thing thrilling about this crap are the hot ass reviews I read on how “horribly made” this is.

After a couple of research(post watching of this film) I discovered there's a lot of movies out there titled “Succubus,” as such, there was a lot of conflicting information when I tried to gather some insights into this madness of a film.

Before I continue with my review, here's the real description of the film:

Several young couples travel to a private island for a mysterious training retreat that promises to strengthen their relationship. However, during the Retreat, the heroes encounter an ancient demon - a Succubus. This monster feeds on the life energy of people, taking on someone else's appearance and provoking victims to show the worst qualities and do terrible things.

Now, onto why this was a shitload of crap.

Firstly, the word “Succubus” in folklore and mythology, is a demon or supernatural entity that takes the form of a woman to seduce men, typically through sexual activity.

These creatures are often portrayed as beautiful but dangerous, luring men into relationships that drain their energy or life force.

The counterpart to the succubus is the incubus, a male demon that seduces women. The concept of succubi has appeared in various mythologies, including medieval Christian demonology and earlier traditions from different cultures.

Thank you GPT for that insight

This movie failed to serve its title as the supposed Succubus did not only take the form of women but also men essentially playing the part of both a Succubus and Incubus - I find that odd and annoying.

Asides this foundational flaw, the film started off with a rather common scene when it comes to horror/thrillers.

The typical girl running from something in a bush where the trees are really tall and have little to no leaves.

I don't suppose I have to tell you what happens next yeah?

It's an easy guess and these “common scenes” reoccurred many times throughout the film and I only recount seeing/feeling something new once, but a part of me believes this was just due to poorly flowing subtitles.

And what's the bigger blow? The scenes are largely disconnected, not in a way that leaves you confused though, just in a way that leaves you feeling stupid for watching.

The acting? Terrible, but I can't blame anyone or anything but the poorly written story.

The ending just leaves me wanting to shoot at my small toe, you know, just to make enough damage to help remind me never to watch any low rated film out of curiosity and the urge to want to come back and say how much stupid everyone else is for rating a movie bad.

Succubus sucks a lot and I wouldn't recommend anyone watching.

I'm only giving it 1/10 because it had people in it.
