Moral Orel is a Stop Motion animated series released by Adult Swim in 2005, and created by Dino Stamatopoulo. It could be said that it is a parody series of the little known Davey and Goliath, which is another animated series, but totally religious.

Moral Orel chronicles the life of the Puppington family, initially following the story of Orel Puppington. Orel and his family are extremely religious, and everything in their personal and family life revolves around their religion. That is, they are the typical example of the religious family in your street who go to church every Sunday and are stupidly happy, they don't watch regular television because "It's the devil's", they only read the bible, listen to Christian music and watch movies and documentaries of Jesus Christ.

Moral Orel is set in an imaginary state and city in the United States, between Kansas and Missouri, which can be seen from the intro of the series at the beginning of each episode.
The whole series will always be focused on explaining its story through the daily life of the residents of Moralton, including Orel Puppington's friends and family.

The series has a rather dark humor in many moments, and many times you directly stop feeling it as a common parody and start feeling very uncomfortable just by watching many of the horrible situations that many of the characters have to endure, both inside and outside the Puppington family, even putting yourself in their shoes and feeling them more and more real.
During this first season, all the episodes continue in almost the same order: Orel goes to church as he does every Sunday, listens to Reverend Putty's sermon, misunderstands it, causes a mess in Moralton and then his father chastises him and gives him a lecture in which Orel learns a new moral, the episode ends and the credits follow.

Moral Orel has a deep message and criticism of religion, family, discrimination, racism, values, love, acceptance, among others that we can appreciate throughout the series.
Orel is one of the best characters I've seen in an animated series, totally human, with a great development that for each season learns more and ends up becoming a very memorable character. He has a unique charm and charisma, his voice dubbing is perfect, very funny and well done, and he has a personality that definitely makes him stand out within the series, making him a great protagonist. All this without taking into account the personality and development of the other characters, which for the most part, are practically perfect and well represented throughout the series.
Definitely finish watching this series will leave you with a great taste in your mouth, and you will probably want to watch it again because of how short its chapters and seasons are, it is a practically perfect series, and unique in its style.

From the beginning of the series in its intro, we can notice one of the first criticisms of the series, showing us only the United States as practically the entire continent, making a clear reference to the thought of many within this country (And also within the religion) to be unique, and that their country is the only thing on the continent, that there are only them and no one else, to put it simply, a clear selfishness of many Americans or commonly referred to as "Americans", point which is highly debatable, but is nothing more than a notable curiosity.

More details can be found throughout the season, many things that look a bit suspicious and make sense later in the following chapters and seasons, such as Why is Orel's brother blond? Kinda curious...

Continuing through chapter 2 "God's Chef", we can start to realize (as I mentioned before) the dark and peculiar humor of the series, it's so unique and natural the way the series makes us laugh through Orel's innocence, that you can simply feel how the jokes are never directly forced and give an even more original touch to the series.
In this chapter, Orel in full puberty, discovers masturbation, going to the bathroom, this curious dialogue between Orel and the janitor occurs, who discovers it and ends up taking him to the principal, who, the only solution he finds is to take him to Reverend Putty, who talks to him ... As usual, Orel misunderstands Reverend Putty's sermon, which triggers a new disaster at Moralton.

Janitor: Who's in trouble in there?
** Orel: Um, there's no trouble here.
Janitor: Is that you Orel?
Orel: Yes.
Janitor: You should eat more fruit, it will help you with number 2.
Orel: Um... I'm not doing number 2.
Janitor: Well, no one makes those sounds with number 1.
Orel: I'm not doing number 1 either.
Janitor: If you're not doing number 1 or number 2, what the hell are you doing in there?
Orel: Number 3?

From this misunderstanding of Orel, he begins to impregnate all the women in the city because the reverend tells him "You must not waste your semen, it is there to procreate, that is the power given to you by God".

Continuing and focusing little by little on Orel's family, we can realize how little by little, Orel's family is not as perfect as it seemed. His mother is quite obsessive being a housewife, and his father directly hates his job, he repeats it throughout the series, although what stands out the most is his alcoholism, which is destroying him and his own family little by little.

Let's take into account Orel's father as one of the most important characters in the series, since all his problems end up affecting both Orel's life and the lives of the other members of his family.
Not only does Orel's father demonstrate alcoholism issues that affect his family, but also, he has a somewhat strange relationship with another character that we will see a lot more of throughout the series: Danielle, which is clearly noted to be attracted to Orel's father, a feeling which is shared, however, Orel's father directly does not admit it, despite knowing how he feels (Always all this, behind his wife's back).

Definitely one of the most serious episodes of this season is the last one, episode 10 - "The Best Christmas Ever ". In which the humor goes away during this episode, and we have an episode with a seriousness that totally takes you out of place and you start to notice a rather dark tone in the episode, and it becomes darker later in the following seasons, starting to concentrate on the development of the characters and leaving the humor a little in the background (And it will not be the last of this style that we will see in the series).

In this episode we will begin to see how Orel's father and mother have a discussion, in which the father realizes that Shapy (Orel's brother) is nothing like him, and they have a discussion in which he makes it quite clear that both know that the child is not really Orel's father's son, but his mother's (obviously because of an infidelity).

From this, we notice how the episode becomes darker, and we notice the clear sadness of Orel's mother, who is totally tired of her family and her life. All this from the argument with her husband, in which she tells him directly "You're disgusting" and makes it clear that neither of them love each other or even support each other in that marriage, and this is noticeable from realizing that in their room, their beds are separated.

After all this, we have one of the last scenes of this season, which is kind of sad to see, since Orel in all his innocence asks where his father is, to which his mother tells him "He left the house", and lets us see a clear face of confusion and sadness on Orel's face, who then tells his mother that he can't leave, because he must stay home for Christmas, and we can notice that he definitely doesn't know what's going on.

This episode closes the season in a very serious way, Orel starts looking for his father and ends up finding him drinking in a bar with Danielle, and here ends the episode, with Orel outside the bar praying to god saying that he has faith that even that will be the best Christmas ever, which doesn't end up happening, and leaves us with a sad image of the innocent Orel hoping that god will make his Christmas better.

 To clarify, this entire review is entirely *MY OWN OPINION*, and my point of view.

¡Hey cinéfilos de Hive! En el post de hoy he decidido hablar de una serie animada de Adult Swim que ya tiene bastantes años desde la última vez que salió al aire. Ésta, tiene un encanto y una belleza propios, un humor muy característico y un mensaje profundo para el espectador, es definitivamente un viaje del que quiero hablar con detenimiento, porque desde que la ví, no he podido sacármela de la cabeza, y me gustaría compartirla con ustedes, así mismo, hablar un poco sobre la misma y mi opinión sobre su mensaje y demás curiosidades de la primera temporada.
En siguientes posts continuaré hablando de la segunda temporada, y en mi review final hablaré de la tercera y daré mis conclusiones sobre toda la serie.

Moral Orel relata la vida de la familia Puppington, siguiendo al principio la historia de Orel Puppington. Orel y su familia son extremadamente religiosos, y todo en su vida personal y familiar gira en torno a su religión. Es decir, son el típico ejemplo de la familia religiosa de tu calle que van a la iglesia todos los domingos y son estúpidamente felices, no ven televisión común porque "Es del diablo", solo leen la biblia, escuchan música cristiana y ven películas y documentales de Jesucristo.

Moral Orel está ambientada en un estado y ciudad imaginarios de Estados Unidos, entre Kansas y Missouri, lo cual se puede apreciar desde la intro de la serie al inicio de cada episodio.
Toda la serie estará siempre centrada en explicarte su historia a través de la vida cotidiana de los residentes de Moralton, en estos incluída los amigos y la familia de Orel Puppington.

La serie tiene un humor bastante oscuro en muchos momentos, y muchas veces directamente dejas de sentirla como una parodia común y empiezas a sentir mucha incomodidad con solo ver muchas de las situaciones horribles que tienen que soportar muchos de los personajes, tanto dentro de la familia Puppington como fuera de ésta, incluso poniéndote en sus zapatos y sintiéndolos cada vez más reales.
Durante esta primera temporada, todos los episodios continúan casi el mismo orden: Orel va a la iglesia como todos los domingos, escucha el sermón del Reverendo Putty, lo malinterpreta, causa un desastre en Moralton y luego su padre lo castiga y le da una charla en la que Orel aprende una nueva moraleja, termina el episodio y siguen los créditos

Moral Orel tiene un profundo mensaje y crítica a la religión, la familia, la discriminación, el racismo, los valores, el amor, la aceptación, entre otros que podremos apreciar a lo largo de toda la serie.
Orel es uno de los mejores personajes que he visto en una serie animada, totalmente humano, con un gran desarrollo que por cada temporada aprende más y se termina volviendo un personaje muy recordable. Tiene un encanto y un carisma únicos, su doblaje de voz es perfecto, muy divertido y bien hecho, y tiene una personalidad que definitivamente lo hace destacar dentro de la serie, convirtiéndolo en un gran protagonista. Todo esto sin tomar en cuenta la personalidad y desarrollo de los demás personajes, que en su mayoría, son prácticamente perfectos y bien representados a lo largo de la serie.
Definitivamente terminar de ver esta serie te dejará un gran sabor de boca, y probablemente quieras volverla a ver por lo cortos que son sus capítulos y temporadas, es una serie prácticamente perfecta, y única en su estilo.

PUNTUACIÓN FINAL DE LA TEMPORADA: 9/10 (EXTREMADAMENTE RECOMENDADA)

Desde el inicio de la serie en su intro, podemos notar una de las primeras críticas de la serie, mostrándonos solo a Estados Unidos como prácticamente el continente entero, haciendo una clara referencia al pensamiento de muchos dentro de este país (Y también dentro de la religión) de ser únicos, y que su país es lo único que hay en el continente, que solo están ellos y nadie más, por decirlo con pocas palabras, un claro egoísmo de muchos estadounidenses o denominados comúnmente como "Americanos", punto el cual, es altamente debatible, pero es nada más una curiosidad notable desde un principio.

Más detalles los puedes encontrar a lo largo de la temporada, muchas cosas que lucen algo sospechosas y que cobran sentido tiempo después en siguientes capítulos y temporadas, como por ejemplo ¿Por qué el hermano de Orel es rubio? Un tanto curioso...

Continuando por el capítulo 2 "God's Chef", podemos empezar a darnos cuenta (como ya mencioné anteriormente) el humor oscuro y peculiar de la serie, es tan única y natural la forma de la serie de hacernos reír a través de la inocencia de Orel, que simplemente puedes sentir como los chistes nunca son directamente forzados y le dan un toque aún más original a la serie.
En este capítulo, Orel en plena pubertad, descubre la masturbación, yendo al baño, ocurre este curioso diálogo entre Orel y el conserje, quien lo descubre y termina llevándolo con el director, el cual, la única solución que encuentra es llevarlo con el Reverendo Putty, el cual habla con él... Como siempre, Orel malinterpreta el sermón del Reverendo Putty, lo que desencadena un nuevo desastre en Moralton.

-Sonidos sospechosos provenientes del baño-

Conserje: ¿Quién tiene problemas ahí dentro?
Orel: Um, no hay problemas aquí.
Conserje: ¿Eres tú Orel?
Orel: Si.
Conserje: Debes comer más fruta, te ayudará con el número 2.
Orel: Um... No estoy haciendo el número 2.
Conserje: Bueno, nadie hace esos sonidos con el número 1.
Orel: Tampoco estoy haciendo el número 1.
Conserje: Si no estás haciendo el número 1 ni el número 2 ¿Qué demonios estás haciendo ahí dentro?
Orel: ¿Número 3?

A partir de esta malinterpretación de Orel, empieza a embarazar a todas las mujeres de la ciudad porque el reverendo le dice "No debes desperdiciar tu semen, está ahí para procrear, ese es el poder que te otorgó dios".

Continuando y centrándonos poco a poco en la familia de Orel, podemos darnos cuenta como poco a poco, la familia de Orel no es tan perfecta como parecía. Su madre es bastante obsesiva siendo ama de casa, y su padre directamente odia su trabajo, lo repite a lo largo de toda la serie, aunque lo que más destaca es su alcoholismo, que va destruyéndolo a él y a su propia familia poco a poco.

Tomemos en cuenta al padre de Orel como uno de los personajes más importantes en la serie, puesto que todos sus problemas terminan afectando tanto a la vida de Orel como a la de los demás miembros de su familia.
El padre de Orel no solo demuestra problemas de alcoholismo que afectan a su familia, sino que también, tiene una relación algo extraña con otro personaje que veremos mucho más a lo largo de la serie: Danielle, el cual se nota claramente que se siente atraído hacia el padre de Orel, sentimiento el cual es compartido, sin embargo, el padre de Orel directamente no lo admite, a pesar de saber lo que siente (Siempre todo esto, a espaldas de su esposa).

Definitivamente uno de los episodios más serios de esta temporada es el último, el episodio 10 - "The Best Christmas Ever". En el cual el humor se va durante este episodio, y tenemos un episodio con una seriedad que te saca totalmente de lugar y empiezas a notar un tono bastante oscuro en el episodio, y la vuelve más oscura posteriormente en las siguientes temporadas, empezando a concentrarse en el desarrollo de los personajes y dejando el humor un poco en segundo plano (Y no será el último de este estilo que veremos en la serie).

En este episodio empezaremos a ver como el padre y la madre de Orel tienen una discusión, en la que el padre, se da cuenta de que Shapy (El hermano de Orel) no se parece en nada a él, y tienen una discusión en la que nos deja bastante claro que ambos saben que ese niño en realidad no es hijo del padre de Orel, pero si de su madre (Obviamente a causa de una infidelidad)

A partir de esto, vamos notando como se vuelve más oscuro el episodio, y se nota la clara tristeza de la madre de Orel, quien se nota totalmente cansada de su familia y de su vida. Todo esto a partir de la discusión con su esposo, en la que le dice directamente "Eres asqueroso" y deja claro que ninguno de los dos se aman o siquiera se soportan en ese matrimonio, y esto se nota a partir de darse cuenta que en el cuarto de éstos, sus camas están separadas.

Luego de todo esto, tenemos una de las últimas escenas de esta temporada, que es algo triste de ver, puesto que Orel en toda su inocencia pregunta dónde está su padre, a lo que su madre le dice "Dejó la casa", y nos deja ver un claro rostro de confusión y tristeza en la cara de Orel, quien luego le dice a su madre que él no puede irse, porque debe quedarse en casa por navidad, y podemos notar que definitivamente no sabe lo que está pasando.

Este episodio cierra la temporada de una forma muy seria, Orel empieza a buscar a su padre y lo termina encontrando bebiendo en un bar con Danielle, y aquí termina el episodio, con Orel afuera del bar rezándole a dios diciendo que tiene fé de que aún esa sea la mejor navidad de todas, lo cual no termina sucediendo, y nos deja una triste imagen del inocente Orel esperando que dios mejore su navidad.

Hay mucho más que hablar de esta primera temporada, pero dejaré el post por aquí y continuaré en un siguiente post, hablando más a profundidad sobre la segunda temporada.
