The Cellar is a movie that makes you understand that if you're not sensitive about everything concerning your life, you might get caught in something you are part of or aware of. This movie is an American horror film released on April 15th, 2022. It was directed and written by Brendan Muldowney with three producers. The Cellar was distributed by RLJE Films. The movie is about a woman who just moved into a fully furnished house with her family and her life will never remain the same again.

The movie started with Keira moving into a well-furnished house with her family with the previous owner's properties inside the house. The house was bought during an auction. When they all got to the house, Keira, daughter(Ellie) was not happy with the house and threw a tantrum at her family. Later that evening, Keira and her husband had an emergency at work and they asked Ellie to babysit her brother Steven. Late into the night, Ellie went to Cellar to turn back the house electricity on after it went off mysteriously. With her mother on the phone with her, she disappeared into the Cellar. Keira did know that an ancient and powerful entity had taken her daughter.

Keira began to search for how her daughter had just vanished from the house. During her search, she discovered that the house had a lot of symbolic signs which represented a lot of things that were beyond her understanding. Not going deeper into the plot, will Keira fight for her family? What was the powerful entity that took Ellie? You have to watch the movie to find out what happened.

My Opinion About The Movie
The Cellar is a movie every parent should watch and learn to always connect and bond with their children no matter how busy they are. Parenting can be difficult when one loses track of what your child is doing physically and mentally. As a parent this movie shows the effects of not being active in your child's life and also it gives room for uncalled influences to come in.

When I watched the movie, I felt that the family was caught in the middle of something that was beyond them and was the fault of the parents. I mean as a parent you should know the environment that will have a good influence on your family's life and also in any decisions you want to make as a parent, stop, think about it and do your homework before making the decision. If Keira and her husband had thought things through before moving into the house with the previous owner's artifacts and properties, they wouldn't be that mess in the first place. There is a saying, "anything free will require your expensive attention".

The movie was well organized, and the setting and the characters played their roles well though all the actors are new to Hollywood. The storyline of the movie has this intriguing setting that magnets the viewers to keep watching till the end. It also has a little mix of thriller and mystery which keeps the viewers looking forward to what happens next.

The ending part wasn't quite satisfying and it was a bitter ending. Also, the ending gave away a hint that there might be a sequel, but who knows. Rating this movie, I will give it 4 stars. It was interesting, an eye-opener, and it has every feature of a good horror movie. I would recommend this movie for horror, thriller /mystery lovers and I would strongly recommend this movie for parents. Watch the movie and I promise you won't be disappointed. Don't miss a good movies because of bad critics on the internet.

I had seen the trailer, but was waiting for a review to see if I would give it a chance or not. My brother likes this type of film, but I prefer the ones that don't have a supernatural element to them. While they're scary all the same, the fact it's realistic does terrify me.

I found the point you made about the choice of house interesting. I've never been able to understand how the characters buy their home without knowing their past or context.

Thanks for your review!

Heheh, I guess your brother will be Interested in this movie but make time out to watch, it's worth.

I've never been able to understand how the characters buy their home without knowing their past or context

Exactly my point. Keira didn't research on the house she was buying thereby subjecting her family to traumatic ordeals.

Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it. Keep smiling ☺

Horror movies terrify me so I am unlikely to give this one a try, but I did enjoy reading your review!

These lessons you're talking about, sounds even more scary😅 maybe what I'll do is to find a partner that I'll watch it with so I don't get too creeped out.

This reminds me of so many movies that start the same. That and cursed dolls. Very classic thematic.

These kind of horror film is based on "what we think is evil" beyond nothing else. And i find those kind of horror films kind of hard to actually love, but im going to add it to my list, because the article was good :)

Hello... When I saw this movie I thought it would be something new and the main idea is very good the truth is that I see many movies and I had not come across one that showed another way to tell a story without falling into the repetitive.

The bad thing is that it was so poorly developed and most importantly I feel that it is a very weak movie and without a touch of emotion or at least moments where the tension and fear is felt and that is not shown anywhere and that is why I do not recommend it, it lacked a lot.

Only the scene where he goes down to the underworld and it's as if nothing seemed to me something little developed and that's just an example.

Cheers! @esther-emmanuel
