Based on the second book of the series written by Julia Quinn, where each book talks about the life of each of the Bridgerton brothers, and in its second installment, entitled The Viscount Who Loved Me, this season has as its main protagonist Lord Anthony Bridgerton, where he is now the one who is determined to find a wife, being declared by his mother, loudly, in one of the many balls of the season, the same season in which Eloise, the second of the Bridgertons, was presented as a bride, and those who have already seen the first season, well know that among her life goals, there is nowhere the fact of becoming a wife, so that at every opportunity she has she sneaks among the people of the different dances to which she is practically forced to attend.
Most of the characters from the first season are kept, unfortunately Duke Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page), who stole many a sigh in the first season (myself included), does not appear in this second installment, although we can see in some chapters his wife, Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), as well as Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who, as already mentioned has entered her marriageable age, and still continues to pursue Lady Whistledown, getting into some trouble in the process, trouble that is caused by the popular gossip writer and that even put her family and reputation at risk, which for the time was the end of the world.
Like the title of the second book, The Viscount Who Loved Me, this second season basically focuses on the life of Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), who in his search for a wife, which he decides to choose with his head, and not with his heart, as his mother has always instilled in them, ends up causing more problems than expected, asking for the hand of Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran), the diamond of the season, while falling in love with Katherine Sharma (Simone Ashley), developing some hot scenes, although not as hot as the ones we got to see in the first season.
With Eloise, determined more than ever to unmask Lady Whistledown, since in this season she attacks the Bridgertons in a stronger way, and who, in addition, is accused by Queen Charlotte herself, of being the writer who has the whole high society, head over heels, for the large amount of gossip that she gets to invent. I must say that this second season did not generate me the same interest of the first installment, however, I finished watching it, because basically the intrigue to see what would happen with the now discovered Lady Whistledown, and what intrigues would be weaving as the plot progressed, kept me entertained. Some sloppy touches in the costumes and hairstyles of the actresses, certainly brings down the quality of the set design a lot, but if you don't pay much attention to that kind of detail, you probably won't notice it. For this season I have a 7/10.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post, if you have any questions, criticisms or suggestions, I would appreciate it if you would put them in the comment box, and remember, you too can make magic in the kitchen wherever you go!
