Very good afternoon, fellow movie buffs. I hope you enjoyed some great movies and series this weekend. The Season 4 finale of Westworld is out, but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. It will be soon.

Today, the beginning of the week, I've been in to tell you about one of my favorite movies of this year.

Crush

Crush is a movie that was released at the end of April this year. Directed by Sammi Cohen and featuring Natasha Lyonne and Maya Rudolph in the production, Crush tells the story of Paige Evans (Rowan Blanchard), a young teenager who is about to participate in the admission of one of the best art colleges. In addition, Paige has a crush on one Gabby Campos (Isabella Ferreira), a former elementary school classmate who is the co-captain of the school's relay team. Paige thinks her crush on Gabby may be what gives her the inspiration to create her entry for her dream CalArts college selection. After being blamed for graffiti at school which was signed by KingPun, Paige's mission is to find out who the real KingPun is and make the relay team where she will find out if her Crush for her former elementary school classmate is reciprocated. However, everything changes when she starts interacting with AJ Campos (Auli'i Cravalho), the twin sister of her crush.

Crush es una película que se estrenó a finales del mes de abril de este año. Dirigida por el Sammi Cohen y con la participación Natasha Lyonne y Maya Rudolph en la producción, Crush nos narra la historia de Paige Evans (Rowan Blanchard), una joven adolescente que está por participar en la admisión de una de las mejores universidades de arte. Además, Paige tiene un enamoramiento por una Gabby Campos (Isabella Ferreira), una antigua compañera de la primaria quien es la co-capitana del equipo de relevo de la escuela. Paige piensa que su enamoramiento por Gabby puede ser lo que le dé la inspiración para crear su entrada para la selección de su universidad soñada CalArts. Después de ser culpada de realizar grafitis en la escuela los cuales eran firmados por KingPun, la misión de Paige es descubrir quién es el verdadero KingPun y entrar al equipo de relevo en el cual averiguará si su Crush por su antigua compañera de primaria es correspondido. Sin embargo todo cambia cuando empieza a interactuar con AJ Campos (Auli’i Cravalho), la hermana gemela de su crush.

Opinion

First of all, this is an LGBT film, which I liked at first glance. Crush tries to make the life of the queer community look as normal as that of straight people. A life where there is no discrimination, everyone is equal, and we don't see mistreatment in any way. It's a way of seeing something different. When you are part of a community, it's nice to see the representation of it in a non-threatening environment.

The chemistry between the leads was palpable, and the other actors also did a great job. It was a story that grabbed me and knew how to touch my heart.

Primero que nada, esta es una película LGBT lo cual me agrado a primera instancia. Crush intenta que la vida de la comunidad queer se vea tan normal como la de las personas heteros. Una vida donde no hay discriminación, todos son iguales y no vemos maltrato de ninguna manera. Es una forma de ver algo diferente. Cuando Formas parte de una comunidad, es agradable ver la representación de esta en un ámbito no amenazante.

La química que había entre las protagonistas era palpable y los demás actores también hicieron un gran trabajo. Fue una historia que me atrapó y supo llegarme al corazón.

Another plus is that I found the story to be quite fresh, the soundtrack that was chosen was quite accurate, and the side stories were funny. Paige's Mother, is quite a character. Quite liberal and understanding. I think the way she deals with her daughter's sexual orientation is the way many young women would want to.

Otro punto a favor es que la historia me pareció bastante fresca, el soundtrack que se eligió fue bastante certero y las historias secundarias fueron graciosas. La Madre de Paige, es todo un personaje. Bastante liberal y comprensivo. Creo que la manera en la que trata la orientación sexual de su hija es la manera que muchas de las jóvenes desearían.

We get to see a fairly uninhibited teenage life in terms of sexual diversity. With a lot of inclusion and a fairly fresh vocabulary. The jokes are funny (at least to me) and somehow we can appreciate the art in an unconventional way. We can relate to quite specific points, and it's very enjoyable.

Podemos observar una vida adolescente bastante desinhibida en cuanto a la diversidad sexual. Con mucha inclusión y un vocabulario bastante fresco. Los chistes son divertidos (al menos para mí) y de alguna manera se puede apreciar el arte en un modo no convencional. Podemos sentirnos identificados de en puntos bastante específicos y es muy agradable.

I loved that there was a happy ending (oops). I think that's something to note because when it comes to stories with lesbian main characters, these usually end in tragedy. If you don't believe me watch Disobedience.

Me encantó que hubiera un final feliz (oops). Creo que es algo que hay que destacar porque cuando se trata de historias con personajes principales lésbicos, estas suelen terminar en tragedias. Si no me creen miren Disobedience.

If you like comedy, and you are a supporter of the LGBT community, don't miss Crush. It's a good movie to pass the time and have a few laughs. For me, it has been a great discovery, I have seen it many, many times and I almost learned the dialogues hahaha.

Si les agrada la comedia, y son personas que apoyan a la comunidad LGBT, no dejen de ver Crush. Es una buena película para pasar el rato y reírnos un poco. Para mí ha sido un gran descubrimiento, la he visto muchísimas veces y casi me aprendo los diálogos hahaha.

And remember, this is my personal opinion. If you have a different one is totally acceptable.

Y recuerden, esta es mi opinión personal. Si tienes una diferente es totalmente aceptable.
