Creería que todos acá están familiarizados con las oscuras historias de Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein y porqué no, con lo que está pasando con Diddy; al final si bien es cierto cada una tiene matices diferentes todas se caracterizan por algo: el poder. Creer que se es invencible solo por estar en alguna posición es de las cosas más peligrosas que pueden pasar y es que esto permite, por cierto tiempo ya que al final todo sale a luz, actuar con impunidad y tener carta blanca para cometer cualquier clase de abuso y crímenes. Blink Twice es la representación perfecta de esa minúscula parte de la sociedad y su decadencia, de aquellos que se consideran "intocables".

I would think that everyone here is familiar with the dark stories of Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein and why not, with what is happening with Diddy; in the end, although it is true that each one has different nuances, they are all characterized by something: power. Believing that one is invincible just for being in some position is one of the most dangerous things that can happen and this allows, for a certain period of time since in the end everything comes to light, to act with impunity and have carte blanche to commit any kind of abuse and crimes. Blink Twice is the perfect representation of that tiny part of society and its decadence, of those who consider themselves “untouchable”.

La historia comienza con Frida (Naomi Ackie), una camarera que está obstinada de su vida y rutina por lo que un cambio al rumbo de sus días es lo que más está deseando últimamente, Trabajando en una gala se da cuenta que está Slater King (Channing Tatum), un tipo que es un magnate y hasta filántropo dueño de una compañía tecnológica. Por cosas de la vida se conocen y hacen un repentino click, pareciera que fue amor a primera vista. Como toda esta gente es excéntrica King tiene una isla privada a la que va a ir con su círculo cercano a pasar unas vacaciones, y si, obviamente Frida fue invitada, contra todo pronóstico. Lo que ella no sabe es que no todo es lo parece.

The story begins with Frida (Naomi Ackie), a waitress who is stubborn about her life and routine so a change in the course of her days is what she is most looking forward to lately. Working at a gala she notices Slater King (Channing Tatum), a guy who is a tycoon and even a philanthropist who owns a technology company. As life happens they meet and make a sudden click, it seems it was love at first sight. As all these people are eccentric King has a private island where he goes with his close circle to spend a vacation, and yes, obviously Frida was invited, against all odds. What she doesn't know is that not everything is as it seems.

La isla de buenas a primera es perfecta, un paraíso pero de entrada ya sientes un aura rara y pesada. Pero nada, estás allí, como no la vas a pasar bien? - días de buena comida, bebidas, mucho y sol y en las noches, bueno, desenfreno total. Todo iba a bien hasta que de repente comienzan a pasar cosas extrañas, Frida empieza a cuestionarse muchas cosas, a caer en cuenta de que aquello es solo una fachada y que detrás de todo hay gente moviendo hilos para que cosas nefastas sucedan, cosas en contra de la voluntad de muchas. A partir de acá será una carrera para descubrir y desenmascarar todo aquello al mismo tiempo que tratará de evitar no morir en el intento. Y no amigos, esto no va de nada paranormal ni de misterio, esto es depravación y abusos en su máxima expresión.

Everything was going well until suddenly strange things began to happen, Frida began to question many things, to realize that this is just a facade and that behind everything there are people pulling strings to make bad things happen, things against the will of many. From here on it will be a race to discover and unmask all that while trying to avoid dying in the attempt. And no friends, this is not about paranormal or mystery, this is depravity and abuse in its maximum expression.

Uno se pregunta, con qué frecuencia sucederán estas cosas? - y mi respuesta fue: todos los días. Siempre he pensado que la gente que tiene todo el dinero posible se aburre por lo que se pasan al lado oscuro y comienzan a desafiar al sistema, a hacer lo que se puedan imaginar solo porque pueden. Esta película es dirigida por Zoë Kravitz, la hija del cantante; desconocía sus dotes de directora/productora pero con esta película definitivamente entra en la órbita. Esto para mi es una radiografía, una pequeña muestra de lo que hay tras los tres terribles personajes que les nombré y de las clases altas de la sociedad. La película no es de terror pero en realidad si lo es y es que pensar que estas cosas pasen es dantesco, a esto es a lo que realmente hay que tenerle miedo.

One wonders, how often will these things happen? - and my answer was: every day. I've always thought that people who have all the money they can get bored so they turn to the dark side and start bucking the system, doing whatever they can imagine just because they can. This film is directed by Zoë Kravitz, the singer's daughter; I was unaware of her gifts as a director/producer but with this film she definitely enters the orbit. This for me is an x-ray, a small sample of what is behind the three terrible characters I named and the upper classes of society. The film is not horror but it really is and the thought of these things happening is horrifying, this is what you really have to be afraid of.

La trama básicamente es la progresión de los días de "fiesta", todo es alegría y goce para que al final venga el giro oscuro y lleno de tensión. Estamos hablando de violaciones y asesinatos, uso de drogas, alcohol; todos los ingredientes para el desastre. Honestamente la segunda parte del film es muy buena, el suspenso que se vive es muy real, la angustia, la expectación. También hay violencia, explícita e implícita, hay cierto gore, sangre; es un film que sorprendentemente me pareció completo. La actuaciones decir que estuvieron muy a la altura. Channing Tatum hace una buena interpretación, hay una escena en donde destaca de sobremanera.

The plot is basically the progression of the “party” days, everything is joy and merriment only to have a dark and tension-filled twist at the end. We are talking about rape and murder, drug use, alcohol; all the ingredients for disaster. Honestly, the second part of the film is very good, the suspense is very real, the anguish, the expectation. There is also violence, explicit and implicit, there is some gore, blood; it is a film that I found surprisingly complete. The performances were up to the mark. Channing Tatum gives a good performance, there is a scene where he stands out.

Hablé de Naomi Ackie pero también Adria Arjona tiene un protagonismo importante. Ambas igualmente entregaron buenos papeles, ponerse en la piel de mujeres que sufren todo tipo de vejaciones siempre es complejo y delicado. Bien por ellas. Al final es una película que me sorprendió, no es para un Oscar pero si se disfruta bastante. Hay un par de plot twist muy interesantes al final que cambian la trama completamente y creo que funcionan bien. Dura poco más de hora y media. Le doy un 8/10, me entretuvo y bueno, toca una realidad de la que nadie quiere hablar o por lo menos muy pocos.

I talked about Naomi Ackie but Adria Arjona also has an important role. Both equally delivered good roles, getting into the skin of women who suffer all kinds of humiliations is always complex and delicate. Good for them. In the end it is a film that surprised me, it is not for an Oscar but it is quite enjoyable. There are a couple of very interesting plot twists at the end that change the plot completely and I think they work well. It lasts a little over an hour and a half. I give it an 8/10, it entertained me and well, it touches a reality that nobody wants to talk about or at least very few.
