Mucho se ha estado hablando últimamente de la falta de acción, de lo pasivo y de la inoperancia de House of the Dragon; hay gente que se ha osado a aburrir de la serie, cosa que para mi es totalmente incomprensible. La cosa es que esta segunda temporada se estaba o se está caracterizando por la diplomacia, por la construcción de estrategias y por la relaciones personales en torno a las decisiones que se están y se seguirán tomando. Llegado el capítulo 4 de este pasado domingo todo esto cambió ya que se vino una de las batallas más memorables de la historia, la misma que vería una de las tantas peleas que hay y veremos entre dragones.
Much has been said lately about the lack of action, the passive and inoperative nature of House of the Dragon; some people have dared to get bored of the series, which for me is totally incomprehensible. The thing is that this second season was or is being characterized by diplomacy, by the construction of strategies and personal relationships around the decisions that are being and will continue to be taken. In chapter 4 of this past Sunday all this changed as it came one of the most memorable battles in history, the same that would see one of the many fights that there are and we will see between dragons.
El episodio se titula "The Red Dragon and the Gold" en alusión a Meleys y Sunfyre, quienes son los dragones de Rhaenys y Aegon II respectivamente. De hecho Sunfyre, según R.R Martin, es el dragón más bello de todos lo que alguna vez han surcado los cielos. El hype creado alrededor de este capítulo fue monstruoso porque se esperaba una batalla de igual o hasta de mayor magnitud que las vistas en GOT. Bajo mi opinión no fue tan así, si bien es cierto que esta batalla fue muy buena, básicamente por el deslumbramiento y la vistosidad de los dragones, creo que compararla con lo visto en Game Of Thrones es quedarse un poco corto y ser quizás algo injustos. La característica especial de este episodio diría que va más allá del campo de batalla y que esto último fue un complemento a todo esto.
The episode is titled "The Red Dragon and the Gold" in allusion to Meleys and Sunfyre, who are the dragons of Rhaenys and Aegon II respectively. In fact Sunfyre, according to R.R Martin, is the most beautiful dragon of all that has ever taken to the skies. The hype created around this chapter was monstrous because it was expected a battle of equal or even greater magnitude than those seen in GOT. In my opinion it was not so, although it is true that this battle was very good, basically because of the dazzling and showiness of the dragons, I think comparing it to what was seen in Game Of Thrones is a bit of an understatement and perhaps a bit unfair. The special feature of this episode I would say that it goes beyond the battlefield and that the latter was a complement to all this.

Para complementar lo dicho antes el IMDb le da 9.7 a este capítulo poniéndolo en el top 10 de los episodios con mejor puntuación de la historia de la franquicia; hay que decir que es el primero de HOTD en entrar en esa lista, de ahí lo mucho que está dando de qué hablar. Pero, realmente fue así de bueno? - si tomamos en cuenta lo complicado que es hacer estas "danzas" de los dragones a nivel de CGI con los actores siendo protagonista, el nivel de producción que hay detrás de unas escenas a campo abierto con cientos de extras y que todo esto se vea tan espléndidamente real, si, fue realmente bueno. Pero como les comentaba, para mi la característica primordial fue la emocional, cuando nos despedimos de un personaje de la forma en como pasó todo tendemos a ser mucho menos críticos porque en nuestros ojos veremos todos como "cine", la eterna palabra cliché para alabar algo.
To complement what was said before, IMDb gives 9.7 to this episode, putting it in the top 10 of the best rated episodes in the history of the franchise; it must be said that it is the first of HOTD to enter that list, hence how much it is giving a lot to talk about. But as I said, for me the main feature was the emotional one, when we say goodbye to a character in the way everything happened we tend to be much less critical because in our eyes we will see everything as "cinema", the eternal cliché word to praise something.
Rhaenys fue una de las mejores personajes de esta historia, muy parecida a lo que en su momento fue Catelyn Stark o la misma Olenna Tyrell, una mujer con carácter, sensatez, espíritu e increíblemente inteligente y con un sentido de pertenencia brutal. Cuando se nos arrebata un personaje así, uno al que toda la audiencia seguramente le tomó un cariño especial pues la trama indudablemente queda más épica y grandiosa. Y fue así por todo el contexto que la llevó hasta ahí, por haber dado el paso adelante en el consejo delante de su reina Rhaenyra y porque a pesar de la ausencia de esta última siempre tuvo el apoyo por parte de ella. Creo que también la culpa por no haber hecho el trabajo al final de la primera temporada lo llevó a no vacilar y a pedirle a Meleys, apodada "La reina Roja" que siguieran hasta el final.
Rhaenys was one of the best characters of this story, very similar to Catelyn Stark or Olenna Tyrell herself, a woman with character, sense, spirit and incredibly intelligent and with a brutal sense of belonging. When a character like that is taken away from us, one to whom the whole audience surely had a special affection for, the plot undoubtedly becomes more epic and grandiose. And it was so because of all the context that led her there, for having stepped forward in the council in front of her queen Rhaenyra and because despite the absence of the latter she always had her support. I think also the guilt for not having done the job at the end of the first season led him not to hesitate and ask Meleys, nicknamed "The Red Queen" to continue to the end.

Si viste el episodio sabrás que esa mirada final de complicidad entre Rhaenys y su dragón fue un dolor profundo, antes de la acción ya uno sabía lo que se venía porque en este punto ya estaba Vhagar en los aires. Es muy probable que todo esto se convierta en un punto de inflección más de los tantos que ha habido para que los animos se calienten y comiencen a ser más directos con esta guerra. Las actuaciones de Aegon sigo manteniendo que es de lo mejor que no está dejando estos primeros 4 capitulos pero también todo lo que está pasando Daemon en Harrenhal es digno de seguirlo porque es un tanto diferente en los libros. Creo que poco a poco ese personaje está mutando al punto de que en algún momento será irreconocible y eso es algo que vamos a querer ver.
If you saw the episode you will know that that final look of complicity between Rhaenys and her dragon was a deep pain, before the action one already knew what was coming because at this point Vhagar was already in the air. It is very likely that all of this will become one more of the many points of inflection for tempers to flare and begin to be more direct with this war. Aegon's performances I still maintain that he is one of the best that is not leaving these first 4 chapters but also everything that Daemon is going through at Harrenhal is worth following because it is somewhat different in the books. I think little by little that character is mutating to the point that at some point he will be unrecognizable and that's something we're going to want to see.
En fin, un capitulo muy top en donde tuvimos de todo: dragones escupiendo fuego, una trama que poco a poco se va solidificando y haciéndose más intensa, los personajes van agarrando otros matices, están tomando decisiones polémicas, la de Alicent que pasó por debajo de la mesa pero que es muy importante y sobretodo la de Aemond que sin dudas marcará un antes y un después. Dentro de HOTD si ha sido el mejor y con diferencia así que si, todos los elogios que está recibiendo para mi están bien fundamentados aunque para algunos puedan parecer un poco inflados. Mi consejo? - no comparen GOT con esto, ya lo dije antes y lo repito, no es válido además de que es super injusto.
In short, a very top chapter where we had everything: dragons spitting fire, a plot that little by little is solidifying and becoming more intense, the characters are taking other nuances, they are making controversial decisions, Alicent's that went under the table but is very important and above all that of Aemond that undoubtedly will mark a before and after. Within HOTD if it has been the best and by far so yes, all the praise it is receiving for me are well founded although for some it may seem a bit inflated. My advice? - do not compare GOT with this, I said it before and I repeat it, it is not valid plus it is super unfair.
