The Midnight Meat Train and Clive Barker especial kind of horror [Eng | Spa]

Hello, Movies & TV Shows community!

There are several types of horror in cinema, but I have seen little that surprises me as the horror that comes in Clive Barker's films, it is a type of horror that grows inside you, that attacks you directly because Clive before being a director or film producer was a recognized writer of horror stories.

This horror in its nature is corruptive, it is always about an ordinary person becoming evil, the perversion of the soul in stages, and how an innocent person gradually becomes what he wished to destroy, it is a special kind of horror, horror of corruption.

Clive Barker is one of few writers I read during my teenage years, the way he made colorfully and caricatured creatures and villains in his early books was quite creative and innovative for his time. Even back then Stephen King(One of my favorite authors) called it the "Future of horror", while over time Barker failed to live up to expectations, he has certainly left us with books and horror films for quantum that have changed their genres and influenced the art of modern horror in general.

Films like Hellraiser (1987) have proven to the public eye the concept of corruption of the soul as the source of horror, this concept is something that exists and is analyzed in depth in criminalistics, including many years ago I could have in my hands the book Becoming Evil where this theme and the evidence behind the causes that lead to an ordinary person to corrupt his being and become a murderer works.

Hellraiser

And if we look at it in depth this is a theme that he works in each of his works, we always start with someone young and innocent, childless, and always end up bathed in monster blood and becoming a little darker, bloodier, and above all a little more monsters. Hellraiser is an example of this, nailhead and other creatures are just caricatures of pre-existing mythical creatures with an innovative twist, physical modifications, and even their context is something that deserves an article in itself, however, how they trap people and become members of their team as seen throughout the saga, is again an example of Barker's type of horror.

The Midnight Meat Train(2008) carries this concept as a flag and main element in its story, we see little by little how the protagonist goes from being a photographer of violent themes to becoming violent itself after becoming fascinated and obsessed with the person he thinks is a serial killer.

That makes it a pretty scary movie, how a person can become fascinated and pursue horror willingly, how someone can willingly become a lover of horror and the dark side of humanity, but this happens in real life.

Evil

The phenomenon is known as Hybristophilia and it is falling in love with a person who has committed crimes, while our protagonist(Bradley Cooper) is not romantically in love he is deeply fascinated by the evil that a human can wield.

As the film progresses we see how Leon (Bradley Cooper) gradually becomes the serial killer he wanted to stop, even for the final confrontation, he went and got the same weapons that the killer used "in his eyes", butcher knives.

Thus symbolically transforming into his obsession and this is noticed by everyone in the plot which leads to them simply accepting it as fact and helping him become the real butcher in the plot, completing his dark desire to be a killer and become evil in the flesh.

Barker with this film surprised us in many ways since this work is a perfect characterization of his literary style, even his masterpiece Book of Blood (1984-1985) does not have his brand of style as this film, ironic because he was not the director or screenwriter, however, we can see that the team behind the production of this film understood the type of horror that particularly generated Clive Barker and so they represented it.

I hope you enjoyed this analysis of Clive Barker's horror and its relation to the films that have emerged from his works, I leave you with a somewhat obscure question Have you ever felt the call of darkness? I look forward to your answer in the comments.

¡Hola comunidad de Movies & TV Shows!

The midnight meat train was an amazing viewing for me. When I watched it I found it by chance on the TV and since the name seemed sinister enough I decided to keep watching and oh boy, what an intense experience it was. I surely wasn't expecting the horrific nature of the inhabitants of the subway. An amazing film that probably deserves more popularity.

It's one of those hidden jewels that would have shined in another context but dint for some reason, it has great actors is a great movie and even the director was really good at its job, but somehow it passed by the cinemas willout being noticed, and now we have a great movie on our hands :)

Saludos :)

Y excelente hermano tu sinópsis felicitaciones eres un crack
