I am very excited about this contest because although I don't usually get too excited about Christmas, there are many films of this genre that I like and make me explore other cultures, they are films that invite to rejoice, reflection, gratitude and family togetherness, however this one that I bring you below, while retaining the essence of what Christmas means, is also a reflection of the different types of love that exist, so I invite you to enjoy an analysis of "Love Actually".
Estoy emocionadísima por este concurso ya que aunque no suelo entusiasmarme demasiado con la navidad, hay muchas películas de este genero que gustan y me hacen explorar otras culturas, son películas que invitan al regocijo, a la reflexión, al agradecimiento y a la unión familiar, sin embargo esta que les traigo a continuación, si bien conserva la esencia de lo que significa la navidad, es también un reflejo de los diferentes tipos de amor que hay, así que te invito a disfrutar de un análisis de "Love Actually"
Overview/Resumen
To begin, the narrative of this film is not linear, but a compendium of stories, which (some of them) are intertwined, we have for example the story of a man who has lost his wife and has to cope with his son, but although it is hard to overcome the loss he has to advise him on love, the first love, an innocent and naive one, We also see the love that knows no languages and borders in the story of Aurelia and Jamie (one of my favourites because of the hilarious dialogues between them), the unrequited love that Mark feels for Juliet, his best friend's wife, the worn out, hurt and betrayed love of Karem who is not valued by her husband Harry, but there are also the different loves that have nothing to do with romanticism, as is the case of Sarah who adores her brother and even sacrifices her own happiness for him.
Para iniciar, la narrativa de este film no es lineal, sino que se trata de un compendio de historias, las cuales (algunas de ellas) se entrelazan, tenemos por ejemplo la historia de un hombre que ha perdido a su esposa y tiene que salir adelante con su hijo, pero a pesar de que le cuesta superar la pérdida tiene que aconsejarlo en cuanto al amor, el primer amor, uno inocente e ingenuo, vemos también el amor que no conoce de idiomas y fronteras en la historia de Aurelia y Jamie (una de mis favoritas debido a los diálogos hilarantes que hay entre ellos) El amor no correspondido que siente Mark por Juliet, la esposa de su mejor amigo, el amor desgastado, herido y traicionado de Karem a la que su esposo Harry no valora, pero también están los amores diferentes que no tienen nada que ver con el romanticismo, como es el caso de Sarah quien adora a su hermano e incluso sacrifica su propia felicidad por él.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
What I like most about this film apart from the narrative structure is the script, it has wonderful dialogues, capable of making you cry or laugh with each scene and the different stories we see on screen. Going back to the narrative structure of the film, we see that it starts with Sam's childhood love for a girl from his school, it is a genuine, innocent and pure love, but as we explore other stories we see how this feeling is transformed, for example we see a kind of "teenage love" with the character of Colin, a very crazy boy who seeks adventure in the United States, talking about him there is a scene that always makes me laugh and it is when he meets a group of North American girls who are delighted with his British accent and even ask him to pronounce everyday words like "Bottle", although they are disappointed to see that the word "table" is pronounced in the same way as in the USA 🤣.
Lo que más me gusta de esta película aparte de la estructura narrativa es el guion, tiene unos diálogos maravillosos, capaces de hacerte llorar o reír con cada escena y las diferentes historias que vemos en pantalla. Volviendo a lo de la estructura narrativa del film vemos que inicia con el amor en la niñez en el caso de Sam y lo que siente por una niña de su colegio, es una amor genuino, inocente y puro, pero a medida que exploramos otras historias vemos como ese sentimiento se va transformando, por ejemplo, vemos una especie de "amor adolescente" con el personaje de Colin, un chico muy alocado que busca aventuras en Estados Unidos, aunque yo no lo llamaría precisamente "Amor" sino Pasión o incluso lujuria, hablando de él precisamente hay una escena que siempre me hace reír y es cuando él conoce a un grupo de chicas norteamericanas que están encantadas con su acento británico, e incluso le piden que pronuncie palabras cotidianas como "Botella", aunque se decepcionan al ver que la palabra "mesa" es pronunciada de la misma forma que en Usa 🤣.
Then we experience a sacrificial love, it is a very sad story that we find in Sarah, as she is a woman who has always been dedicated to her work and to the care of her mentally handicapped brother, and just when she discovers that her crush corresponds to her, it is clear that this relationship cannot prosper because the clear priority of this wonderful character is her brother, who needs her a lot, with this story we discover the sacrificial love but at the same time the brotherly love.
Luego experimentamos un amor sacrificado, es una historia bastante triste la que encontramos en Sarah, ya que es una mujer que siempre se ha dedicado a su trabajo y al cuidado de su hermano discapacitado mental, y justo cuando descubre que su crush le corresponde, nos queda claro que esa relación no puede prosperar porque la clara prioridad de este maravilloso personaje es su hermano, que necesita mucho de ella, con esta historia descubrimos el amor sacrificado pero al mismo tiempo el amor fraternal.
And so we move forward in the story and we see how in some cases love deteriorates, falls into routine and even betrayal until it eventually fades away. In this case we find two scenes that generate very different emotions but are equally important, as well as reflecting a reality. On the one hand we see Harry (my dear Alan Rickman) buying a gift for his lover, he wants to do it as quickly as possible so as not to be discovered by his wife who is looking at other items for her Christmas shopping, but the shop assistant, the good Rufus (Rowan Atkinson, better known as Mister Bean) takes too long while Harry looks at him with despair.
y así vamos avanzando en la historia y vemos como en algunos casos el amor se deteriora, cae en la rutina e incluso en la traición hasta que eventualmente se desvanece, en cuanto a este caso encontramos dos escenas que generan emociones muy diferentes pero son igualmente importantes, además de que reflejan una realidad. Por una parte vemos a Harry (mi querido Alan Rickman) comprando un regalo para su amante, quiere hacerlo lo más rápidamente posible para no ser descubierto por su esposa que anda mirando otros artículos para sus compras navideñas, pero el dependiente de la tienda, el buen Rufus (Rowan Atkinson, mejor conocido como Mister Bean) se tarda demasiado mientras Harry lo mira con desesperación.
But later we witness a heartbreaking scene by Karem (Emma Thompson) when she discovers her husband's infidelity, as she realised that he gave the necklace to his secretary instead of her, then when she is alone she lets out all her sadness and frustration when she realises that love came to an end after so many years of experiences, it is a very well done scene by Emma, who also was inspired by her own story, when Emma Thompson was married to Kenneth Branagh and he betrayed her with Helena Bohan Carter.
Pero posteriormente somos testigos de una escena desgarradora por pare de Karem (Emma Thompson) cuando ella descubre la infidelidad de su esposo, pues se dio cuenta de que él le regaló el collar a su secretaria en lugar de a ella, entonces, cuando está sola deja salir toda su tristeza y la frustración al comprobar que el amor llegó a su fin después de tantos años de experiencias vividas, es una escena muy bien lograda por parte de Emma, quien además se inspiró en su propia historia cuando Emma Thompson estaba casada Kenneth Branagh y él la traicionó con Helena Bohan carter.
In conclusion, this film seems to be an audiovisual essay about love in almost all its facets, it shows us the funny, kind and romantic side but at the same time what can happen in some cases "unrequited love" "betrayed love" etc, at the same time it also shows us scenes that represent what Christmas itself is, much more than a time of consumerism, it is the time when the family usually get together as a whole, where cousins, uncles, brothers, friends, neighbours and other people get together to hug and tell each other how much they have missed each other, there is even a scene that we see at the beginning and end of the film which is completely real (not acted) of people meeting again at Heathrow airport in London, you can see in their expressions the joy of the moment and also reflects the different types of love that exist.
En conclusión, este film parece ser un ensayo audiovisual sobre el amor en casi todas sus facetas, nos muestra el lado divertido, amable y romántico pero al mismo tiempo lo que puede suceder en algunos casos "amor no correspondido" "amor traicionado" etc, al mismo tiempo también nos muestra escenas que representan lo que es la navidad en si, mucho más que una época de consumismo, es el momento en el que la familia suele reunirse por entero, donde primos, tíos, hermanos, amigos, vecinos y demás personas se juntan para abrazarse y decirse lo mucho que se han extrañado, incluso hay una escena que vemos al inicio y final de la película la cual es completamente real (no actuada) de personas reencontrándose en el aeropuerto de Heathrow en Londres, se ve en sus expresiones la alegría del momento y además refleja los diferentes tipos de amor que existen.
And well friends, I can only recommend this movie, it is not for all audiences as it has some scenes inappropriate for children, but you can enjoy it with friends, and as you have been able to realize it has a lot of depth, so I really loved it. Y bien amigos, no me queda más que recomendarles esta película, no es para todo tipo de publico ya que tiene algunas escenas inapropiadas para niños, pero se puede disfrutar con amigos, y como se han podido dar cuenta tiene mucha profundidad, así que de verdad me encantó.
