That is ultimately the line that captivated me the most out of the entire film, it feels like a direct indictment to the viewer, something that is coupled with everyone in some way, emblematic and perhaps the most interesting thing about the entire installment. We know, for fans of the genre, that this is a classic of classics, Hellraiser has such an extensive and repetitive saga that it has sown the seeds of constant hopelessness, its versions don't seem to completely do it justice, but the title Hellraiser will always be a hallmark for horror.

Esa es en definitiva la línea que más me ha cautivado de toda la película, se siente como una acusación directa al espectador, algo que se acopla a todos de alguna forma, emblemática y quizás lo más interesante de toda la entrega. Sabemos, para los amantes del género, que esto es un clásico de clásicos, Hellraiser tiene una saga tan extensa y repetitiva que ha sembrado la semilla de la constante desesperanza, sus versiones no parecen hacer justicia por completo, pero el título Hellraiser siempre será un sello para el terror.

I honestly had a little faith, I stumbled upon the new installment thanks to following the acting career of co-star Drew Starkey closely, and decided to give it a chance, but always in mind with the bad memories of his last installment.

Sinceramente tuve un poco de fe, di con la nueva entrega gracias a que sigo de cerca la carrera actoral de su co-protagonista Drew Starkey, y decidí darle una oportunidad, pero siempre en mente con los malos recuerdos de su última entrega.

The design work is quite striking, its cover creates an exciting high for what you are about to see, but much of it stays there, however, at first glance it is what drives a person onward for that very recognizable nails-in-the-face character that causes an exciting shiver. This new installment may seem good to those who like reboots with an adaptation to social modernity, here we will see sex, drugs, lgbt and more. Of course this in my opinion has no problem, but sometimes it takes more prominence than the essence of the plot: to cause fear. In short, it is not for children.

El trabajo de diseño es bastante llamativo, su portada te crea un high emocionante por lo que vas a ver, pero gran parte de ello se queda allí, sin embargo, a primera vista es lo que lleva a la persona a seguir adelante por ese tan reconocido personaje de los clavos en el rostro que causa un escalofrío excitante. Esta nueva entrega puede parecerle buena a los que le gustan los reboot con una adaptación a la modernidad social, aquí veremos sexo, drogas, lgbt y más. Claro que esto a mi parecer no tiene ningún problema, pero en ocasiones se lleva más protagonismos que la esencia de la trama: causar miedo. En definitiva, no es para niños.

The theme of the film at the beginning seems to be a bit far from what is expected, it contains a dense preamble far from the boiling point: the broken relationships of a family, in this case siblings, because of drugs. A misguided romance between an addict and a fake love dependent, the tension between the romantic relationship of two men, the lack of identity, drug dependency, manipulation and victimhood. These are undoubtedly the most redeemable themes of the whole film, leaving aside the sadism, the gore or the constant need to flee that it should cause.

La temática de la película al inicio parece estar un poco alejada de lo que se espera, contiene un preámbulo denso lejos del punto de ebullición: las relaciones quebradas de una familia, en este caso hermanos, por las drogas. Un romance sin buen camino entre un adicto y un falso dependiente del amor, la tensión entre la relación romántica de dos hombres, la falta de identidad, la dependencia de las drogas, la manipulación y el victimismo. Esas son sin dudas las temáticas más rescatables de todo el film, dejando de lado el sadismo, el gore o la constante necesidad de huir que debería causar.

I don't know if you have seen all the Hellraiser installments, I haven't, because they all seem to have a decline. In this installment we follow the obsession and desperation of a young woman who doesn't know how to make a single good decision, leading to the ruin of everyone around her; more interesting is the role of the "boyfriend" who at all times seems like a hero until he takes off his mask.

No sé si se habrán visto todas las entregas de Hellraiser, por mi parte no, porque todas parecen tener un declive. En esta entrega seguimos la obsesión y desesperación de una joven que no sabe tomar ni una sola buena decisión, llevando a la ruina a todos los que le rodean; más interesante es el papel del “novio” que en todo momento parece héroe hasta que se quita el antifaz.

I think much of the viewer's attention is held with the final minutes, where they finally begin to explain the Cenobites and all their power. Honestly the quality and design is what differentiates the last installment from the others, it shows the makeup and editing work where we can see the same Cenobites of Clive Barker from '86.

Creo que gran parte de la atención del espectador se mantiene con los minutos finales, donde por fin comienzan a explicar a los Cenobitas y todo su poder. Sinceramente la calidad y diseño es lo que diferencia la última entrega de la demás, denota el trabajo de maquillaje y edición donde podemos ver a los mismo Cenobitas de Clive Barker del 86.

The plot itself has many holes, there are gaps that feel strange because of the jumps from one place to another, making the viewer feel like there is a lack of context for something. Referring to the protagonist I could say that it lacked more construction to her character, she is the one who guides us throughout the film, but we know nothing of her past and how she gets to that point. The film is a constant bad decision making where everyone wants to save someone else, but almost no one is saved, the closing is undoubtedly the best dialogues and perhaps I saw it that way for the joy of ending the film.

La trama en si tiene muchos huecos, hay vacíos que se sienten extraños por los saltos de un lugar a otro, haciendo sentir al televidente como que falta contexto de algo. Referente a la protagonista podría decir que le faltó más construcción a su personaje, es quien nos guía en toda la película, pero no sabemos nada de su pasado y cómo llega a ese punto. El film es una constante mala toma de decisiones donde cada quien quiere salvar a otro, pero no se salva casi nadie, el cierre es sin duda los mejores diálogos y quizás lo vi así por la alegría de terminar el film.

The acting is not the most brilliant, there are many scenes that lack emotion because the actors do not master the interpretation of despair, however, I highlight the performance of Goran Višnjić in his agony and suffering, which is gifted to us in the final arc. Only the protagonist's character seems to have had a developmental breakthrough, but not enough to be remarkable. As for Drew Starkey as the boyfriend and final manipulator, he did well, although he lacked a spark.

La actuación no es la más brillante, hay muchas escenas que carecen de emoción porque los actores no dominan la interpretación de la desesperación, sin embargo, destaco la actuación de Goran Višnjić en su agonía y sufrimiento, que nos es obsequiada en el arco final. Solo el personaje de la protagonista pareciera haber tenido un avance de desarrollo, pero no el suficiente como para ser destacable. Por parte de Drew Starkey como novio y manipulador final, lo hizo bien, aunque faltó una chispa.

As for the arrival of the Cenobites, who spend almost the entire film appearing at times to terrorize the damned souls, they manage to feel authentic and fascinating, give us some of the gore expected in a film of this type and leave the way completely clear for another installment.

Respecto a la llegada de los Cenobitas, que pasan casi toda la película apareciendo por momentos para aterrorizar las almas condenadas, se logran sentir auténticos y fascinantes, nos regalan un poco del gore que se espera en un film de este tipo y dejan totalmente el camino libre seguramente a otra entrega.

Direction and setting

The direction of the film was quite inclined to our current problems or situations, it is denoted from the introductory scene in a clandestine bar for sexual encounters such as orgies, that puts off a little, and then try to leave it behind with the murder of a young homosexual that only makes the viewer more strange, from the first moment I asked myself the question "what was the need? " But they just leave such a scene behind and it doesn't even have any absolute relevance later on, it was a banal attempt to give context, and just that seemed to me the style of direction by David Bruckner, of course this is just the opinion of a person x movie fan.

La dirección de la película se inclinó bastante a nuestros problemas o situaciones actuales, se denota desde la escena introductoria en un bar clandestino para encuentros sexuales como orgias, eso descoloca un poco, y después intentan dejarlo atrás con el asesinato de un joven homosexual que solo hace poner más extraño al televidente, desde el primer instante me hice la pregunta “¿cuál era la necesidad?” Pero simplemente dejan tal escena atrás y ni siquiera tiene alguna relevancia absoluta más adelante, fue un intento banal de dar contexto, y justo ese me pareció el estilo de dirección por parte de David Bruckner, claro que esto solo es la opinión de una persona x fanática del cine.

It is full of inconsistencies or nonsense actions, which makes it a little difficult to understand, even so, we can appreciate very well the work of ambience and design, which stand out among so much predictable plot emptiness. It practically seems that the characters have a sign on their foreheads that says "will die", so there are no unexpected or surprising changes at any time.

Está llena de incoherencias o acciones sin sentido, lo cuál hace un poco difíciles de entender, aun así, podemos apreciar muy bien el trabajo de ambientación y diseño, que destacan entre tanto vacío argumental previsible. Prácticamente pareciera que los personajes tienen un letrero en la frente que dice “morirá” por lo que no hay cambios inesperados o sorpresivos en ningún momento.

The final setting, which is a mansion, I liked it a lot because it is full of many details and winks to the root and essence of the Cenobites, which makes it very attractive to the viewer and serves with genius in the plot and its closing events. The final atmosphere evokes strange sensations and great relief to finish, but I want to clarify that it did not cause a hint of terror or horror in me and that's why I was disappointed.

El escenario final, que es una mansión, me ha gustado mucho porque está repleta de muchos detalles y guiños hacia la raíz y esencia de los Cenobitas, lo que la vuelve muy atractiva al espectador y sirve con genialidad en la trama y su cierre de sucesos. La atmosfera final evoca sensaciones extrañas y de gran alivio por terminar, pero quiero aclarar que no causó ni una pisca de terror ni horror en mi y por eso me decepcionó.

I do not recommend it, but as for tastes there are colors, if you want to give your own judgment there is nothing left to do but watch it for yourself. It has many weak points, especially the dialogues, these are not sustainable or attractive until the end and thanks to the Cenobites.

No la recomiendo, pero como para los gustos están los colores, si quieres dar tu propia sentencia no queda más que verla por ti mismo. Tiene muchos puntos débiles, sobre todo los diálogos, estos no son sostenibles o atractivos sino hasta el final y gracias a los Cenobitas.

I failed to empathize with any character, and the only one who seemed to break the barrier of the three-dimensional, be more realistic and empathetic is killed off in the first arc. I'm not going to say that it doesn't have enjoyable features because if it didn't, I wouldn't have finished it, but it will remain as a viable option for some during the October months, it's not outstanding, but not very forgettable either.

No logré empatizar con ningún personaje, y el único que parecía romper la barrera de lo tridimensional, ser más realista y empático es asesinado en el primer arco. No voy a decir que no tiene rasgos disfrutables porque si no, no la fuera terminado, pero quedará como una opción viable para algunos durante los meses de octubre, no es destacable, pero tampoco muy olvidable.
